Calico County has been around for over 30 years and it's changed owners a few times, most recently as well. The restaurant hasn't changed and would not be on the latest style fancy dance restaurant list. However, it's HUGE inside and accommodate large parties of diners. The menu is at least 8 pages with daily specials. Every dish that I've eaten since the early 70s has been delicious, but let's talk chicken fried steak with country gravy....The steak is huge and the baked potato I get with it is perfectly cooked. I get steamed cabbage as a side or the fried okra....delicious! It truly feel as if the food is going to come out my ears. Occasionally I'll get the chicken and dumplings which is an excellent choice. But Sundays, first come, first served you can order and eat a most delicious turkey dinner...just like Thanksgiving. Once, they had left overs on Monday and I snatched it up before anyone else in the restaurant could. There's a red headed and bearded young man who is the best waiter there but I've never had a bad waiter/waitress. Still, Red with his big smile and friendly attitude and knowledge of the food/menu is my first choice.

Southern home style cooking. Fresh warm tasty rolls come with dinner. I had beef liver which was quite good. The green beans tasted fresh and healthy. The okra was deep fried - of course - and okay. Not bad, but not worth the calories. Atmosphere is down on the farm home. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. Not all that appealing to me, but I'm not the target audience.

Excellent breakfast especially the omelettes!! Loved the fresh mini cinnamon rolls they bring to each table as you're ordering.

Old school, prompt and friendly service. Waiter really knows how to run a table. Breakfast was perfect from eggs to bacon to buttered wheat toast and grits. It just doesn't get any better than this. Even the coffee was rich and flavorful :) enough to drink it black.

Walked in and was seated. Place was not busy, took a while for a waiter to come by. Place smelled old and musky. Opened the napkin with dinnerware and was disgusted and shocked by how dirty and crusted the fork was and showed the waiter, she took them and did not even apologize, and she looked bothered!!! I took a picture and we left! Made us wonder how clean their kitchen is!
