This place has really cleaned up, it used to be packed with RVs, currently there are many open spaces, several RV’s with no one on site but RV is connected. You can stay here up to 6 months. Grass sticker burrs are a real pain and a hazard, the entires grass area is covered with them so there is no walking around without shoes. Be cautious with your fur buddies. The construction is finished we had been here in Dec of 2018 and the entire area was under construction, but the walkway along the boardwalk is beautiful. You can walk around the entire park and get 1.5 miles on your step tracker :
There are no longer showers here. Few little drippy water spouts to rinse feet etc as u come off the beach but expect to be covered with sand in your no no zone all the way home. Also watched tons of people covered in sunblock and chemicals rinsing off right into the beach sand below not very environentally conscious Cameron Cty. ‍
We are snowbirding for the first year. Parents want to go so we are with them so they can enjoy. We drove threw, they are doing a lot of remodeling, by add on, they do have a boat ramp, fishing, and access to the beach, really neat watching the wind surfing. Did not check out prices to stay, but when done with all remodel it is going to be Amazing.
I love this park. And it’s an odd one. You either love it or hate it. We are beach people and we love it. The salty sea breeze. An eclectic mix of people. Great times.
Bought my first annual pass! For $100 a year I can fish on the jettys in the campground, or drive on the beach at entrance #5 & fish there OR AND sleep overnight in my camper no hook ups just bathroom at entrance Playground: No playground at #5 entrance Restrooms: Front restrooms were closed. Just need to walk around to backside. Water to rinse feet & shower Picnic area: Covered picnic area with several tables.
Awesome beach, soft sand, great sunsets. Can get pretty crowded on weekends, but peaceful in the evening when most families with kids start to pack up. Great beach for kids, water is clear and clean. Parking is available at walkable distance to waterfront great plus if you have little ones 2 restroom locations within 3 min walk. Also, many shells of all sizes, I've found a couple sand dollars as well.
Attended the very 1st show at CCP&R - Sublime with Rome!! Loved the location and proximity to the water. Love how spaced out the seating was. Wasn't crazy about the Porto potty, but truly did appreciate there was at least somewhere to 'go' plus the handwashing station. Wasn't crazy about how far we parked but appreciated the free ride on the large golf carts and the walk back wasn't bad. Wasn't crazy about $28 for 4 beers before tip, but appreciate another tent's vendor giving out free mineral water. All in all, everything balanced out very well for us and were happy campers and had a great time there. Would love to come back soon.
Nice clean park. Lots of accessible fishing spots; long granite block jetti. There is at least one cleaning station. Plenty of parking. Restrooms were clean abd well maintained.
Wow this park is a hidden gem, great time for the whole family, fishing, beach & bike riding. We stayed in our RV for a month!
The best place to surf on SPI. If you always wanted to try surfing this is a great spot to try it out. No coral or lava rock to worry about and nice, easy waves with soft sandy bottom. Sand is the best for castle making and has almost a cement value to it. Make sure to visit the big Jesus statue and the Coastal Studies Lab. The jetties are really neat, but hold on to your littlest ones! There is a $10 fee for parking.
