Story

Established in 1948 as a traditional residential Summer Camp for the children of Alachua County. At Camp Crystal Lake, we want to create a positive environment that is safe, fun and rewarding. Campers will have the opportunity to grow as leaders through group living and to appreciate the value of a family. FUN, FAMILY, and FELLOWSHIP is the foundation that we build upon. Our ultimate goal is to provide campers and staff an experience that encourages confidence and self worth.
Camp Crystal Lake (CCL) is located in Clay County five miles from Keystone Heights and 29 miles from Gainesville. The 140 acres and three lakes that make up the camp were part of the Keystone Heights Army Air Corps Base. In 1947, upon recommendation of Superintendent Howard W. Bishop, the School Board of Alachua County purchased the base from the US Government for one dollar. The city of Keystone Heights now maintains the air field for civil aviation.
Camp Crystal sees over 6,800 students during the school year, as well as 1,200 for Summer & Adventure Camps. Our facility is also rented out on the average of 18 weekends a year.

Was a camp counselor here with my ex girlfriend a few years back. Lost contact with everybody. My ex's mom doesn't even know where she is. The living arrangement is crummy, beds have exposed springs and dried tomato paste from a previous pizza party. Bugs everywhere, most bunks smell like aftersex and rotting flesh. Never volunteering here again. Not recommended to anyone unless you really hate them.
