Reunion at Helms Hall. Wonderful. Having kitchen and bathroom was handy. We will be coming back next year.

Worst experience EVER!!!!!!! Ordered a handycap accessable cabin for four days, a week and a half in advance before the date. Two days later I called to cancel two of the four days. I called several times each day to make sure they knew I cancelled and just wanted two days instead. NO ONE returned my calls, by the fourth day, I left another message stating that I would like a full refund if no one will get back to me. Another 3-4 days past, and finally the day of, someone calls me to apologize for not getting back to me for my call the day before. I simply replied in question (wrinkling my forhead) "Yesterday?????? I've called you several times last week concerning a cancelation, and no one has returned my call since I've been calling, and this is the first time I've gotten a response, and my last call was about 3-4 days ago. He told me he couldn't give me money back for the first two nights and he'll see what he could do about to the other two nights. At this point It was already 3pm and i didn't even have anything packed because there had been Absolutely NO COMMUNICATION up to this point. It took an additional 3 and a half hours to get to the park sight with packing and when our family of six arrived we had to wait another 20minutes for a park ranger to give us Keyes. When we got to the cabin it wasn't handycap accessable, the stairs were to steep for any pregnant woman to get up and down let alone unpacking, and.....you couldn't even access the cabin's front entrance, because it was blocked by trees and big rocks. This was not looking good. So, we went back to the park ranger explained what was going on, he offered our family a cabin that could be available if someone else didn't show up, which ment we would have to wait one hour with hungry kids in the van. Then he said you can have either the other two, but you would have to move back to the first cabin which was cabin six, because it was being rented the next day. All we wanted was a first time wilderness experience with our family to be the most memorable, and it was turning into a nightmare. Check in was at 3 and by 7:30pm we are still having to stand around waiting for someone else to hopefully not show up, just so we could get the cabin we specifically asked for (HANDYCAPPED ACCESSABLE!!!!!) So, Drew the park ranger called his manager and explained the situation, and he called us while we were out trying to get food and firewood cause the park didn't have any, to tell us that the other cabin's were no longer an option because it needs to be ready for the guest coming in tomorrow. So this is my question????? What do you do when one person rents for a day and then the next person rents the next day? ( You clean the room and ready it for the next guest. Not sure why it was even a Hassel for them to even accommodate us that way, but ok Einstein!!! It's interesting to note that online and on the phone we were told that when you rent a cabin it must be a minimum of two days, yet the person who had what we needed and asked for, had a one day rental. (Shaking my head) and (Confused!!!) By the end of all of this, we simply just said for this Hassel, we just want a FULL refund as asked from the beginning. It was stated to us by the park ranger Drew, who contacted his superior that he would by no means refund us for the four nights, but only two. Say what!!!!!!!!?????? I am completely and utterly appalled that this is how you would service and treat paying customers!!!! If I could give this review No stars, I would. It is Now 8pm, and my family and I did not get the camping experience hoped for and have to travel a long way back home as a result of the inconsiderate, incompitant, and completely unprofessional staff and management of this camp and park sight. You All should be ashamed of yourselves!!!!!! I will never recommend this place to anyone after the mistreatment and experience our family had with camp spencer!

My favorite park to go too. They have 3 ponds that you can fish out of for $1, if you don't have a fishing license. Those ponds are stocked every year, so they always have fish. They have bass, blue gill, and carp. The carp are hard to catch, but it only takes about 4-24 seconds to catch a brim with crickets. I have never NOT caught a fish there when using crickets from Walmart. They also have cabins that you can rent, and outdoor public restrooms for both men & women. They also have camp sites setup everywhere, and you can even have weddings or weddings receptions there. They also have a pool that is open from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Keep in mind, this is a real park out in the country. Plenty of lizards(anoles chameleons), frogs, turtles, snakes, hawks, and coyotes here. It's a great place to take your children if you want to teach them about the wilderness in a safer environment and without having to drive too far. The park itself is never crowded, but their pool get's crowded on the weekends with families, and 10am - 1pm weekdays because of the Boys & Girl Club and Scouts. So if you want to go, then go after 1pm on weekdays.

Beautiful & Relaxing! A soothing place! Quiet! Nature in the midst of a busy area. LOVED IT! Celebrated my Father-in-law's funeral here. Comforting setting for anyone who needs time to think & heal (for any reason).
