They know what they're doing. I have serviced there a few times; this last time was alignment and the car feels better than when it was new. Great service, comfortable waiting area and fairly priced. Highly recommended.

Went in for Stage 1 APR tune for my Audi A5. Was done very quickly. The options available for the tune were explained right at the desk in a very clear to understand manner. Heard great things about Rocco and crew. Was suggested to them by an employee who no longer works there who to this day STILL recommends them even though he no longer works there, he gets his Porsche and BMW serviced there. Will be making a return next week for my APR Stage 2 upgrade. Only local APR dealer. Shop is extremely clean. Highly suggest if you own a luxury foreign car you stop at Cantech before the big dealerships for any work.

Regardless of what you drive, if you're going to spend the rate these guys charge, you're better off at the dealership. I've been going to Cantech for several years. At the time, they were the only indy in the area with some of the more sophisticated diagnostic, alignment and balance machines and other high-end tools. Initially I was pleased, as they were able to perform some work that even the dealer had some difficulty sorting out. Front desk staff was knowledgeable. Unfortunately, they've since transitioned into a snooty, over-priced, underwhelming, high-end-car-peddling shop that I want nothing to do with. My issues begin with the front desk service. Whether it is one of the people usually at the counter or the owner, I always get a guilt trip about not doing their "recommended services" (i.e., things I do myself). It has been this way to some degree since I first started doing business with them, but has gotten worse in the last few years. They clearly want to do all of the work on the vehicle themselves - understandable, they are a business. However, when you're dealing with enthusiast cars, you're inevitably going to encounter customers who not only know what they're talking about and know their car extremely well, but also do some of their own work. At one point they sent out a survey via e-mail asking for feedback. I expressed my discontent with the aforementioned customer service issue. From then on, I no longer received their NYS inspection reminders in the mail. Their attitude didn't change at all, and has in fact gotten worse, they just decided they didn't want my business and took me off the mailing list for providing what I thought might be useful, albeit critical, feedback. I used to get two of these cards each year as I had two different vehicles serviced there. When I questioned it, they claimed they had no explanation for why I wasn't getting the mailers. This was a couple of years ago and I still have yet to receive one since that incident. Passive aggressive nonsense isn't what I expect at an establishment with aspirations of grandeur. Since then, the front desk interaction has gone steadily down hill, as has the mechanical service. There is a reason this place can't hang onto techs. If the work environment is anything like the atmosphere at the counter, I wouldn't stick around either. I could go on for many paragraphs about specific incidents which I and coworkers and friends have experienced, but I don't feel that is necessary. Bottom line is that you're better off at a dealer if you drive something relatively new and are prepared to shell out dealer money. I've found the local dealers to be significantly more pleasant, now better-equipped to work on the cars, and more accommodating in comparison. If you want an independent, there are several shops in the Syracuse area that currently rival the equipment selection of Cantech with friendlier service and lower cost. If you've got an older M car, P car, or some other specialty performance vehicle, shop Rochester or Albany - it is worth the drive. At this point, I would be happy to see them shut the service area down altogether and just sell cars exclusively. That is clearly where their interests reside. 1/20/2017 Update: Fascinating that the first response to this review is regarding its timing, rather than any of the other concerns I expressed. In addition, you would think the transition to e-mail notifications would have been mentioned when I first inquired about why I wasn't receiving them. Also, nice to see that posting a full name is the tactic for manipulating unfavorable reviews, further reinforcing why such reviews are important. It is a fitting conclusion to this saga, and a good example of how customers are treated and business is done at this establishment.
