Are there ANY banks that aren't outright liars and thieves?

I opened a new account and deposited a $200 check which the manager chose to hold up for 10 days despite my 820 credit score.  Later on I couldn't remember the exact date, and I hadn't received my ATM card yet, so I asked a teller if the funds were available so I could write a check.  She said the funds were available.

They were not.

I was charged a $35 NSF and the bank refused to refund it due to THEIR incompetence.  Now they won't close my account without yet MORE outrageous fees.

Why do business with a bank that would rather have $35 than a customer?  Fortunately there's another bank in Bell.  Go there instead.
