Story

Capstone’s Vision: Love the Lord our God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength.

(Matthew 22:37-38)

As the body of Christ, our first priority is to love the Lord and see that love manifest in everything we do. Often in the church, too much emphasis is placed upon the individual and what we are going to get out of a relationship with God. We have learned that when we focus upon loving God, a byproduct of that love is that we are set free from what destroys us. Therefore we make it our aim to keep as our primary goal to love the Lord and have everything we do as a church based in and conceived out of that love. When our “vision” is right our personal issues are handled by God.

Much is done in this world apart from the motivation of love for God. We don’t want our good works to be found to be without proper motivation on the day of the Lord. Therefore we set as our goal to develop and perform all ministry out of a foundation of love for God.

By the grace God has given me, I laid a foundation as an expert builder, and someone else is building on it. But each one should be careful how he builds. For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ. If any man builds on this foundation using gold, silver, costly stones, wood, hay or straw, his work will be shown for what it is, because the Day will bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test the quality of each man's work. If what he has built survives, he will receive his reward. If it is burned up, he will suffer loss; he himself will be saved, but only as one escaping through the flames.

If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. Mission

Tell Somebody!

Matthew 22:37-38 is often called the Great Commandment. Verse 39 of that same chapter is said to be “like” the Great Commandment. That means that it is of the same motivation, cut from the same cloth.

And the second is like it: “Love your neighbor as yourself.”

We know at Capstone that we cannot separate love for God and love for our fellow man.

And he has given us this command: Whoever loves God must also love his brother.

You have heard that it was said, “Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.” But I tell you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.

Our mission at Capstone is to Tell Somebody. Intricately entwined within our love for God is our command to love “somebody”. Love is active; which means we are actively involved in vocal and practical expressions of love for “somebody” at all times. At Capstone, you will always be prompted to share the love of God with “somebody”. It is called the Great Commission and it is our life blood and our destiny.

Who are the “somebodies” God has placed in your life... at work, home, and your neighborhood? Tell them about Jesus, eternal life, and His church.
