A local legend since 1945, Carbone's Market is a full-service Italian deli, grocery, and caterer.

Story

Carbone’s Market has been a community favorite since 1945, when Alphonse and Nellie Carbone decided to open up a corner market. In 1972, their nephew, Tony Renzullo bought it, and he started us on the path we're on today. Now owned by longtime patrons Heath and Alice Leonard, Carbone’s is a full-service grocery and Italian deli. We specialize in catering for any event, hot foods, freshly butchered meats, and deli sandwiches. Our grinders are actually something of a local legend. Think fresh bread from Waterbury overstuffed with premium meats, cheese, and your favorite toppings. A lot has changed over the years, but a few things remain the same: our commitment to superior customer service and our pride in serving Torrington.

When you go for a grinder at this shop, you are actually buying two sandwiches worth of food on an 8 inch. They put so much meat on the thing its ridiculous. But its really fresh and its really not that bad a deal. So what I do, is take out half the meat, put it in a sandwich bag, and have it the next day for another sandwich. I will mention though that the 8 inch rolls seem fresher then the 12 inch ones, probably because only the unsuspecting people order the 12 inch and the regulars know better and order the 8 inch. 4 Stars, but i grade hard and its my 2nd favorite sandwich shop so far.

My father went here for years now I have been going here for years. Grinders are amazing. Packed full of meat you wouldn't believe. Great prices and very local. Makes me proud to support local business. Knowing my dad got his food here when he was a young man makes me feel like this place did something right to be in business this long. Hopefully if I ever have kids they can come here too.

Wish i could give it ten stars! Every option is so delicious. My personal favorite is the chicken cutlet with oil and spices. Yummy! Favorite place to get a grinder from. Carbone's has no competition, Nardelli's is all talk but no game compared to these grinders.

Best place ever for a REAL sandwich! The roast beef is always perfect, the chili rocks and the St. Patrick's Day special was amazing, with that tender corned beef and homemade kraut. Mmm!

While living in Ft. Lauderdale, I told a couple that I was from Torrington, CT. Together they said, "Carbone's Market!" I met a lady in Massachusetts who said her family likes to make a day trip down here to get Carbone's. Now if we can get Carbone's to stock State Line Potato Chips again, that would be awesome!!!!!! I love the sandwiches and their fresh meats are fabulous!
