This place deserves a "zero" star rating for the quality of their dental care. I have had many cleanings in different states before and the cleaning I received here was so bad that it didn't even remotely resemble anything a dental cleaning should be. And this time they can't make up an excuse about an employee who was filling in for someone else, because Dr Allen did it herself (they don't have a certified dental hygienist???) and until she was done I didn't even realize she was doing a cleaning, as she just simply scraped my teeth in 2 or 3 places (I thought that was her exam and she was trying to get a better look). That was it!!! That was the cleaning! I haven't had a cleaning in 2 years and I know that I have plenty of tartar and plaque that needs to be removed, but it is all still there, I can feel it with my tongue in all the same places. I do a better job with just a simple toothbrush! Then she tried to polish my teeth and missed more than half of the surface, she touched up only a few spots that were easy to get to. So, there was no ultrasonic instrument breaking up tartar and washing it away, then she only pretended to scrape away tartar with scaler, I say “pretended” because none of the tartar was removed. The polishing missed most of my teeth surface. And then flossing. The only reason I’m not angry about the flossing is because I can do it myself, unlike the rest of the cleaning. Overall, I think that all the money that was supposed to be spent on dental personnel training was spent on useless and impractical office decorations. It attracts attention, but not a good one. The chairs in the waiting room are very uncomfortable and the coffee tables are so small you can’t even fit a water bottle on them without nocking down plastic flowers. But that wasn’t the worse. The blue LED lights all over the office are very annoying. Doesn’t a doctor, even just a dentist, know that blue light is very irritating to the human eye and can even eventually cause permanent damage to the eye’s retina? I also had fluoride treatment at the same time. The fluoride treatment is suppose to be in a flexible foam trey that gets put over the teeth for a short period of time, after which I should be able to spit the remaining solution. My treatment didn't go like that at all. Some solution was randomly applied on my teeth, neither getting a thorough application on all my teeth nor staying mostly on the teeth. Since there was no foam trey it got all over my mouth and didn't stick to the teeth at all. And, after all, I had to swallow it (by the way, I asked what I should do first). I couldn't figure out why I felt nauseous for the rest of the day until I researched that fluoride is harmful if swallowed and that some people had serious medical issues (starting with vomiting) after they swallowed some at the dental offices. So, let’s sum it up. Here is a breakdown of the twenty people (besides me) who left comments about this dental office on facebook: 1 - her mother 1 – brother 2 – employees at Carolina Dental Arts Southpark 4 – other business owners that were positively rated by Carolina Dental Arts 2 – other Carolina Dental Arts offices 3 – other dental offices 3 – dentists out of town, including from Athens and Brussels 1 – this person also rated 3 more dental offices So, at least 17 out of 20 cannot be trusted for sure. That’s just 20 min of research, I wonder what I would have found about other 3 with more time…

I can't say that going to the dentist is top on my list of favorite things to do, however, Thanks to Dr. Allen and her staff, I don't mind going anymore. They make me feel comfortable and at ease with their down to earth personalities and good nature. Kelsy, Amanda and Lorri are great and make going to the dentist easy. I really appreciate the good care they give me whether a regularly scheduled appointment or an emergency visit. I recommend them highly to anyone looking for a dentist. I can't tell you enough how incredible this staff is and finding a dentist who cares is not an easy feat. Thanks to you all and please know how much I appreciate you!!

I came into Carolina Dental Arts @ South Park about a week ago for a new patient appointment and could not have had a better experience! To start the office is absolutely gorgeous! I did not feel like I was in a dental office at all! I was greeted by the front desk immediately and was even offered a cold beverage. The hygienist was very thorough but at the same time gentle when cleaning my teeth. When Dr. Allen came in for my exam she was friendly and explained the treatment I needed clearly and answered any additional questions I had. At check out the other lady at the front desk explain how my insurance benefits worked and presented me with treatment plan I could take home. Although I'm nervous to go back to have my filling completed I know I will be in the best hands!

Best visit to the dentist ever! The office was just beautiful and the staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. I was a little anxious going to the dentist but they were very reassuring and caring with me. Dr. Allen is a great dentist and have earned herself a lifelong patient! I will be returning with my kids and recommending them to my friends and other family members.
