Great office. My son has been seeing Dr. Gassman since we was an infant and she hasn't steered me wrong yet. There can sometimes be a longer wait, but that is because she takes her time with her patients and doesn't rush you to get to her next patient. The ladies at the front desk are exceptional as well!

I hope that I can give this place zero stars. I took my daughter for a one week follow up. When she was born at 39 weeks she had low-risk Jaundice, and of course was scheduled for an immediate follow-up. Due to her Jaundice, I waived the hepatitis B vaccine in the hospital which Children's Mercy, My OB-GYN and the nursing were all on board was appropriate care. I also elected to formula feed. According to the AAP literature and the nutritional staff, after birth newborns must be fed every 2.5- 3 hours with a maximum of 4 hours between feedings and you should feed on demand. I explained when asked that I was feeding on demand 2 to 2.5 ounces for a maximum of 16-18 ounces per day which was according to the charts appropriate for her weight and length. They tested her bilirubin 4 times and 6 timed checked her for dehydration and then proceeded to tell me that if I did not start feeding her more she would become a snacker and develop innapropriate eating habits. They did not weigh her, measure her head, or length. 5 times I was told I had to give her the hep B shot even though she was still jaundiced despite the recommendations to hold the shot from the hospital physicians. I said no, and pointed out that I was in no law violation, she was not on any kind of intensive care or infection, and neither was she headed to day care. The exam continued and the physcian proceeded to ask if I was up to date on my Tdap shots, if my husband was up to date and if everyone I knew who came in contact with her was up to date. I told them I assumed so, but it was none of my business and as such I do not ask. I was told that I should know everyone's vaccine status and health status. Needless to stay, the person with me, stepped in and pointed out that the physician had over stepped their bounds as had the office at this point. I told them I would never be going back. DO NOT take your children here ever. I proceeded to make a well child check at Children's Mercy where my children and baby were well treated and they worked with my prior choices and I was told to keep doing what I was doing as I had made good health care choices for my daughter.

I've been taking my 3 children to this office for 14 years and love it! They run a straightforward office by the book. It's true they are likely to question why you don't bring your kids in for their appointments because they are concerned about the kids and their regular health care. Yes, they will tell you ways to improve your child's health and well-being and it may not be what you want to hear-again because they care about their patients Dr. Gassman has also caught many issues with my children's health and well-being that I have missed or regarded as "normal"since I am caring for them daily. She spends lots of time with my kids and actually knows them. I can't tell you how valuable that relationship has been!

Instead of making an appt for my sick daughter the receptionist wanted to know where I have been taking my daughter since she missed her last physical. She must have missed the part about my sick daughter, we have found a new and much better pediatrician. Lees Summit is worth the drive. I will never take my children back here, if you are more concerned about a physical and missed the fact that my daughter was sick... I'm done!
