Best carne asada fries in the city. They have 3 potato options, the regular fries which are more limp, crispy fries, and potatoes, which are like hand cut fries with the skin on. As much as I love crispy fries, the regular fry option is the best here. It's about $18, but it comes in over 2 pounds, so it can serve 2 or leftovers for tomorrow. They have a variety of salsa, 2 green, 2 red, and a tomatillo. The dark green and the more brownish red are the best. They also have great hot carrots on the salsa bar. Well cooked, thick cut carrots. No complimentary chips, but that's minor compared to the great food.
If you are a fan of carnitas, you are in for a treat! I ordered Carnitas fries it is delicious! The meat is seasoned well, fries could be cooked a lil bit longer but its my preference. Got it with everything on it! Fully satisfied and will be ordering again.Food: 5/5
I’m a regular at this place. Normally I don’t ever do reviews on a restaurant. I got off of work to go get late night drive thru and ordered a conga burrito. The burrito was good on my first bite. But on my second bite it seems like I bit on a rusty piece of metal, where I had to spit out my food. The problem here isn’t the service, it’s the quality control which is understandable considering people have those bad days at work. But please try to be more consistent with how food is being prepared, this piece of metal could be potential harm!
I’ve never had an issue here, unlike some of the other reviewers not to imply their concerns aren’t valid. I also really like their Chula Vista location off of Broadway. Castaneda’s is great because it’s a low-grease Mexican spot that tastes fresh consistently. I love the California burrito and the achiote chicken burrito too. Their salsa is really awesome as well, especially the burnt one. I’ll be a customer for the foreseeable future!
It’s fair. Good enough. I love the variety of salsa. Order 3 mini tacos. Cabeza and tripe were good but sausage tacos were not good at all. Clean table. Nice employees. Variety menu I feel their effort in this shop. I hope they keep improving.
Burrito very large... ingredients mediocre at best. The burrito was wrapped so poorly that as soon as I opened the wrapper, it all fell apart. Not fun when you're eating in a car. Take it from this local guide... go elsewhere. I just called the shop to check on pricing for what I ordered a couple days ago as I was reviewing my CC charges. Someone must have decided to write themselves a nice tip! Congrats Castañeda's. You have a thief working for you. My order: Cali burrito add sour cream Total cost $17.66. Absolutely wild. I called the restaurant to order the same thing... $14.XX. I'll be contacting the restaurant again about a refund, or worst comes to worst... this was paid on a CC, I'll report the theft. Did my due diligence here with an honest review. Stay away!
Always deliver with the flavor! And give you the order how you order it, always nice and fairly priced. Portions are big too. My favorite Mexican restaurant and its a bonus that it’s 24/7 for those late munchies cravings. Also they aren’t shy about giving you extra salsas. Highly recommend.
I didn't rate atmosphere because I've never stayed. Also, that's kinda a good thing, I always take out and it's like a few minutes and then I'm off right after ordering!!! These guys are insanely fast and it's hard to tell if they did anything at all but I have my food so...Food: 5/5
