Campsites in this park are in very high demand. The folks working here were very helpful in locating a place to stay in the park. The facilities are all immaculate. It is clear that the people running this place have a lot of pride in what they do. The park is beautiful with great trails and is situated convenient to Tucson.

This is my favorite place to hike in Tucson. I find this to be a very beautiful state park with a variety of trails. I usually hike to Romero Trail. This trail is tough! There is a lot of climbing involved, it can be dangerous in some areas since the trail becomes very narrow and to one side is a very tall cliff. I wouldn't recommend to bring kids here. The trail takes you very high up in the Santa Catalina Mountains, but I have only hiked as far as the Romero Pools. You may want to go see the pools during spring time if you want to find lots of water. The Nature Trail is very easy, great for kids, and they have lots of signs explaining everything about the plants and the animals you can encounter. The Birding Trail is also very easy and you do get to see lots of birds AND lots of javelina foot prints! The Canyon Loop Trail is very easy, too, great for the whole family. If you decide to hike Romero Trail, bring lots of water and snacks.

State Troopers were supper nice; easy in and out no real trouble. The trails were clean and straight forward. My mother and I will be returning there again soon. Even saw some wildlife. Good for all ages.

This is one of the nicest state parks we've stayed in with our RV. Lots of space for each site. Free showers. Our only complaint is that the site numbers are nowhere to be seen for each row. Also, the numbers at each site are many feet off the road, so we had to shine a flashlight at the sites trying to see numbers. When we arrived in the dark, it took a long time to locate our reserved site, as this was our first visit. They could simply paint the numbers on the road or add them to the somewhat useless signs that day back in sites or pull through sites!

Very nice park. We stayed in the very popular equestrian section with our donkeys. We were just passing through, so didn't get to hit any of the trails, but I hear that they are fun. Very clean and friendly.
