I went in to Catherines looking for a pair of slacks. Unfortunately, I was completely ignored. The woman at the counter glanced at me once as I walked in without so much as a greeting then continued chatting with someone at the counter the entire time I was in the store. She greeted two other women who came in after me but I was never spoken to. I understand that the store is aimed at an older clientele than someone in their early 20s like me but I can go to any other plus size store in Salem and get far better customer service than I did at this store. I won't be back any time soon.

A friend and I went to buy bras, specifically, and other clothes here the other day. It's the only place I go for any of my clothes and suggested it to my friend when she needed to be fitted for something new. The minute we walked in, sales associate Sandra politely greeted us and then immediately put on the pressure about signing up for the catherines credit card. We told her we both were definitely not interested and then went about our way. After gathering a large pile of clothes to try on she kindly offered to set me up in a dressing room and dissapeared. Over the next 45 minutes or so my friend and I tried on clothes when sales associate #2, Seri, greeted us and offered her help. We took her up on it and she graciously ran back and forth numerous times getting us each several different bras to try until we found what we liked. She was kind and helpful. When it was time to purchase she took both our things up to the counter and began. Sales associate Sandra came back, insisting to Seri that she had already helped me so this check out was hers. Immediately Sandra again applied the pressure to sign up for a catherines credit card. I told her several times I was not interested in neither the credit card or the perks or anything else. I then pointed out not to forget the pants and bra extender I had added to my pile of things to buy. She took them but then insisted on showing me what my receipt would look like if I'd sign up for the credit card. Again I politely said no but at this point was really tired of being asked and ready to leave. When i got home I found out she was so preoccupied with getting me to sign up that she forgot to ring up my bra extender and never put it in the bag. I only shop for clothes once, maybe twice a year so now I guess I'll have to wait since this is a special trip I make from out of town. I was prepared to give this store only 3 stars but reconsidered because of how helpful and friendly Seri was. She earned the extra star. I would shop here again but the harassment to sign up for a credit card really turns me off and causes me to reconsider if going in is worth it. So I wait until I really need new clothes.
