Cattus Island County Park is a 530 acre natural facility located on Barnegat Bay in Toms River, New Jersey. The focal point of the park is the Cooper Environmental Center. Inside are exhibits that educate about the Barnegat Bay ecosystem.

Story

Cattus Island County Park and the Cooper Environmental Center (CEC) are dedicated to educating its visitors about the natural world of Ocean County.

Cattus Island Park offers visitors year round opportunities to escape into the beauty of the outdoors. Our educational programs stress the natural scientific intricacies and relationships that exist within local ecosystems.

Loved this place. Well groomed paths, varied scenery, nice views of the water and not too crowded. Wheel chair accessible trails. New visitors center with spotless bathrooms. Peaceful place.

Cattus Island is a beautiful county park to take the entire family. In the summer, it is a must to check out the carnivorous plants and butterfly garden if you have kids. There are so many different trails each with unique scenery. Cattus Island is dog friendly, just be sure to rememebr poop bags to help keep it beautiful!

Beautiful place to walk & absorb nature. A nice mix of upland woods, upland swamp, coastal wetlands, & bay. The Cooper Nature Center is nice, with several mounted specimens & live aquatic life. A must visit!

Nice county park. Small nature center and a variety of trails leading through wooded areas and up to the bay. Some trails have boardwalks over marshy areas and there are a number of spots for birding with clear views of osprey nests and other marsh birds.

This entire park is gorgeous and very well-kept. There's tons of wildlife to see, there are even informational plaques about some aspects of the park scattered throughout. There's a small beach with sand (I'm not sure if you're allowed to swim or not) that has a gorgeous view. This is a great place to bring your dog, but remember to bring bag on your way in, and all trash is carry in-carry out.
