Story

Cava Restaurant & Bar was founded by the López-Hollis Family in 1997 with the vision to artfully combine food, wine and music from the family's Mexican and Spanish heritage.

Cava features an eclectic mix of Nuevo Latino and Mediterranean cuisine to go along with inventive, hand-crafted cocktails. We offer a unique wine list of owner selections from Spain, South America and California.

The décor, menu and staff reflect the sophisticated yet casual character of Montecito. Enjoy a vibrant outdoor patio, romantic dining room, cozy fireplace and a beautiful bar setting. Original artwork by Channing Peake, vintage pottery by Gorky Gonzalez, striking interior notes by David Minicucci and the seductive sound of local musician Téka lend Cava it’s distinct and inimitable style.

Food was fantastic, service was terrible. First, we were seated at a table in the very back when there were clearly tables open near the front or even outside. We ordered guacamole and when we finished the first small basket of chips, we waited for another as we still had guacamole left plus quite a bit of the two salsas they bring. My husband had to get up to find the waitress and ask for more chips. We waited five minutes then asked again! Waited another five minutes before the bus boy finally brought them out and our waitress told us they were still making them. Her attitude was the worst part, as if we should have known that they were still "making" the chips. So the chips finally come and just as we're about to start enjoying them with the guacamole & salsas, our meals come. Now we're trying to wolf down the chips so we can eat our meals. After that, the waitress only came back once to check on us. Her attitude ruined the whole experience. Would love to give this place more stars because the food was really delicious, but that darn waitress...

Ok food but it is hard to find decent food if you don't eat meat. Wish more restaurants would invest a bit more time into providing vegetarian meals that we're interesting and not just cheesy.

Fabulous, although inconsistent sometimes. Been there multiple times, ordered the same thing, it was good every time, but prep/portion size was different both times. But it was good both times and service was good. So 5 stars.

Super tasty and gluten free! The corn tortillas stood out the most - unlike any I've ever tasted. It's dense and chewy. You must try them! They only sell tacos and tamales so don't come here for a burrito. I was a tad upset they didn't have some sort of garnish bar with onions, cilantro, etc. Super cute outside patio at this location!

The service is friendly and the atmosphere and the restaurant is opulent. The food was fresh and hot.
