Finally a deli downtown. The Old Fashioned Pastrami Sandwich was moist, tender and did not disappoint. I enjoyed the Matzo Ball Soup, as well. However, I found the Potato Latke to be bland and greasy. Service was friendly. The place was clean. I will definitely be back.Food: 4/5
I received fast, friendly and accurate service when I ordered a pastrami sandwich, matzo balls and potato latke. The pastrami sandwich was absolutely delicious, with a generous amount of meat and packed with flavour. The broth of the matzo balls was so delicious that I could drink it all day, but unfortunately, the matzo balls themselves were lacking in taste. As for the potato latke, it's essentially a giant hash brown, what's not to like?
Very happy to have a new deli nearby. I would say this has to be one of the best, if not the best, deli I've eaten at downtown. It's also quite busy as well but luckily we got there and finished our meal before a very large group of people came in looking for tables. I usually get medium fatty smoked meat at other places which is what I got here, but I would say it seemed a little more lean if anything. It was delicious and I have absolutely no complaints, but I'll definitely order fatty next time, and might suggest the same for anyone that doesn't want their meat too lean. The fries and coleslaw are great and I brought home an apple & cherry strudel which I have yet to try, but it looks delicious. They have a nice little selection of take hom items in their fridge/freezer area which also look great and I'll be back to try. Great service and great food!
This place is the best in this area if you like smoked meat. The place is pretty clean and staff are super nice. They have plenty of space to sit. The food is super fresh and tastey, they have both beef and turkey, smoked. I tried their smoked beef and it was awesome. It was both tender and tastey. They have a wide range of options.
First time to try their Montreal Smoked Meat and they’re delicious! Place is neat and service is great. Will definitely come back and try more from their selections!Food: 5/5
As a Montrealer who loves smoked meat, i was eagerly waiting for months for Centre Street Deli to open in downtown Toronto. I’ve been to the Thornhill location a few times which is excellent. I was very disappointed with this new express location. I went there at 6 pm. They close at 8 pm. Not much seating for customers. No silverware, no drinking glasses. No cherry Coke. Smoked meat old fashioned sandwich was very lean and lacked some flavour. I usually order a medium fatty smoked meat sandwich. Not an option here. I ordered 1 lb of smoked meat to go with a loaf of rye bread. They had no bread left for my order. Checkout and service was great. After I got home I opened the smoked meat I bought and found it was cut in huge thick chunks. I did not see the guy preparing my order. How do you make a sandwich out of that? I’d love to return to this location. Perhaps you could offer 2 types of brisket - lean or medium fatty? I am aware it has only been two weeks since opening. Hopefully some changes will be made.
Substantial portions. Quality every bit as good as the flagship location in thornhill. Smaller seating area, and no breakfast. But open later. Lots of people wandering in don't seem to know about it. But to those who do; run there, before people start hearing about it and the crowds grow.
Best eaten on the spot or within the first 5-10min or the bread will steam and get soggy. Had the old fashion medium and it was super tender and moist, I didn’t find it fatty at all. The fries seem fresh cut and doubled fried so the outer coating was crispy but the centre was still soft. The coleslaw is acidic but decent, I’m partial to the sweet kind, the only disappointment was the pickle I like mine to be on the crunchy side. Worth a visit, I’ll definitely be back.
Their Pastrami on Rye has a really similar style to Katz in NYC - thickly sliced, bit of fat in the cuts and served with a slight bit of mustard. They charge only 13 bucks for it too, which is quite fair considering it’s DT Toronto.Food: 5/5
The return of a quality deli to downtown Toronto for the first time in years. High quality smoked meat sandwich, with a generous portion of fries, slaw, and a pickle just under $20 too.Food: 5/5
