I love Dr. CHRIS as a person , but it's eventually clear, the board needs to remove him from any connection with CSL in order for to move forward. A plethora of individuals have left the congregation due to him, especially those who came through the Dr. Bump error. However it would be best if you just stepped away instead of the board having to do that, that would be best for the congregation , AND SO IT IS! Namaste
I keep seeing all these reviews about the great diversity of this place and it’s not true. In my experience attending on and off for the last year or so it is 80% older gay white men and 15% older white women. They have a couple black singers which are awesome at what they do and they used to have a black pastor which no longer does. Dr Chis is the temporary pastor and he is really good gives some amazing messages. I love and accept all people so a gay congregation doesn’t bother me at all. The staff is very kind and loving especially the kids care center which my kids love. But if you’re looking for a spiritual community to connect with and maybe find some spiritual friends this is not it. Unless your an older gay white man or white women. There are almost no families in attendance. And As a liberal very spiritual straight black man with a family I thought I would be embraced by people I assumed was liberal highly spiritual gay white people but that was not the case. There is a good amount of surface level nice but from the community not the staff they are great I felt isolated and it felt like a older gay white mens club that wasn’t interested in straight black people or actually anyone else. I even took a course and thought I made a connection with a white female yoga teacher and older white gay man only to be shunned and ignored the next class by the yoga teacher and got a feeling of being brushed off by the man. Y’all might think why I keep saying white well it’s because as a black person you eventually realize that white liberals many times treat you very similar to white conservatives in general in that they don’t have any black friends and they really don’t have any desire to really connect and know any. Being around a ton of them in spiritual communities you realize liberal or conservative doesn’t matter the liberal or spiritual white community are just more polite to you overall. So if you’re an old white gay man this is your place you’ll probably love it and they will love you. Because my work is in social media I am happy to see liberal white kids of all types are different they have black friends and are apart of our community as much as we are part of theirs. As a 45 year old black person this is a big deal because if you want to do or live anywhere outside of the hood for the most part we will be the minority. So it’s reassuring that my kids are growing up with white kids that love and accept them in general on a much deeper level than my generation and older. The one star Is for the community. The staff deserves 4 stars maybe 5. Won’t be back
My experience at The Center for Spiritual Living has been life changing. I finally have found a place where I, as a non-religious but spiritual person, can go and feel welcomed. It is a very warm and friendly place where you can meet like-minded, spiritual, and mindful people. Sundays at 10am on the dot, they offer guided meditation for 20 minutes, and then the service begins afterward at 10:30am. The service has singing, happy messages, good sermons, and positive vibes flowing throughout. On days when you can't be there in person, you can watch on YouTube or on Facebook and still enjoy the positivity! I have met so many wonderful and kind people at The Center for Spiritual Living, and it has honestly changed my life. If you are looking for a place that doesn't speak to you like you are a bad person or doing things wrong, then you can find a home here. The first Sunday of each month, they light the candles for all religions. So everyone is welcome here! Hope to see you at The Center for Spiritual Living!
The Universe brought me back I had attended off and on back at the former location. I now attend every Sunday service as much as possible and have viewed service online too. The messages have been uplifting and loving to the soul and some of the people I've met have become friends. The music and singing is so moving and enhances each message. I also enjoy the meditation at 10am if you're able to attend and/or the short meditation at the end of each service. Thank You CSL for being a beacon of Hope, Life & Love!
Friendly, welcoming and accepting people make for an uplifting soul nurturing experience Beautiful, inspiring music and an intelligent message of ageless wisdom encouraging courageous honesty and a wholehearted embrace of our responsibility to be a light, the arms, hands, legs and loving action of God's light in the world.
Always FEEL UPLIFTED after going to this warm, loving, enlightening and FUN place!
Anyone can come here and feel like they are home. The energy is contagious and the people are open minded and loving. Dr. Chris & Rev. Skip deliver powerful and relatable messages that will motivate and offer hope. The vibe is super zen and laid back while also being high energy and uplifting. The music is exceptional and a powerful experience in and of itself. I have taken two classes/wellness retreats given by Rev. Skip and plan on attending and look forward to his future events. If you feel like you’re searching in life this is where you should look - you will find what you’re looking for I promise.
The center is open to all backgrounds and religions. I found them to be respectful and inclusive of all faiths. The staff is friendly and no one preaches or has their hand out. A lot of diversity, inclusion and activities throughout the week. Plus small bookstore with lots of positive knowledge. Overall a really good vibe and way to start the week.
Love CSL Fort Lauderdale! Always feel so inspired and renewed after going to their Sunday service and classes. Dr Chris Micheals is such a dynamic speaker and Rev Heidi Alfred offers powerful messages. It’s such a community of loving people. My husband and I love it here!
