Servanthood
Jesus Christ said in Matthew chapter 20 that He did not come to earth to be served; He came to serve. He told His disciples that in this life, greatness is not achieved through authority or conquest, but through servanthood. We believe servanthood is a foundational principal of Biblical Christianity that many Christians forsake. In spite of how busy our lives become, we must always make ourselves available to serve others, as well as the Church. Servanthood is more than a singular action or event. Servanthood is a state of being. True Christ-like service happens out of a willing and joyful heart. Service can be anything from stacking chairs in your local church to building a mission in a foreign country. However you serve, do so joyfully!
Discipleship
Discipleship is the process of becoming like Christ. We believe that this process should begin as soon as a person finds forgiveness in Christ. Through prayer, Bible study, teaching, and training, the convert will gain a greater understanding of God's Word and draw closer to the heart of Christ, gaining wisdom, compassion, and guidance. Christ expects us to mature in our faith and then help others to gain Spiritual maturity as He said in the Great Commission of Matthew chapter 28:
"Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."
It is not enough for us to become converts to Christianity. Christ demands that we follow Him all of our days, becoming more and more like Him.
Worship
When thinking about worship, we often over-simplify and confine it to what happens during the music segment of our Sunday meetings. Our church gatherings are known as "corporate worship." The fellowship and celebration involved in worshipping as a group are vastly important. However, we believe that "lifestyle worship" is an all-inclusive concept that is Biblically based and crucial to the Christian life. This means that worship doesn't begin or end on Sunday morning but it is a constant part of our lives. We work with a worshipful attitude. We drive the interstate with a worshipful attitude. We grocery shop with a worshipful attitude. Essentially, we do all things to the glory of God. It is a state of awareness that we are representatives of Christ and the Christian faith at all times and that God is worthy to be worshipped at all times!
Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. (Romans 12:1-2)
Biblical Living
All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work. (2 Timothy 3:16-17)
We believe in the inerrancy of God's Word. We believe that Scripture is inspired by God and given to humans, His most treasured creation- made in His image, as His love story and guidebook for our lives. We believe that the Bible contains the teaching necessary to live a righteous, Christ-like life, and that through the power of the Holy Spirit in us, that life can be obtained. As representatives of Christ and the Christian faith, it is our responsibility to live "above reproach," as Paul wrote in 1 Timothy. Through gaining greater understanding of God's word and becoming more like His Son, Jesus, our lives will reflect this growth through visible, tangible, practical Christianity.
