Thank you for your interest in our project! We are re-energized every day by people like yourself who have a love for the 1920s and historic restoration. :)
The Centralia Square Grand Ballroom and Hotel was originally built in 1920 as the first permanent home for the Centralia Elks Club. It was designed by the renowned Joseph H. Wohleb who was best known as the resident architect for the capital city of the State of Washington, Olympia. The entire 28,000 square foot building was owned and operated by the Elks Lodge from 1920 until 1986 when it was sold and redeveloped into the Centralia Square Antique Mall complex. The property served as an Antique Mall with an adjoining restaurant until 2013 when the building was purchased by a local Centralia couple. Their goal was to restore the second floor Grand Ballroom to its original grandeur as well as to make the historic guest rooms available again to the public. The ongoing restoration and preservation of this landmark is thanks in large part to the enthusiasm and patronage of people such as yourself.
If you are looking for a commercial chain hotel we would probably not be the best fit for you. We are family owned and operated with an emphasis on customer service and providing the unique experience of stepping back in time and enjoying the amazing architecture and restoration of this wonderful historic treasure. A tremendous amount of thought, resources and care have gone into trying to find the perfect balance between maintaining the vintage charm and history of the building while adding essential modern amenities. Many of the rooms include their original claw foot tubs or marble showers while others have convenient access to a common restroom and marble shower down the hall. No televisions have been put into the rooms but, as a nod to modernity, free Wi-Fi access is available throughout the property. The original 1920s hardwood floors and in room sinks are still intact with the welcome addition of state of the art individual heating and cooling units. You will find comfy bathrobes and towels as you enter your guest room as well as complimentary shampoo, soap and other amenities. A Parkview Terrace has been added to provide an open air retreat for guests wanting to enjoy their favorite beverage overlooking beautiful Washington Park. Perhaps most importantly you will find the halls lined with old photos of the building and its inhabitants over the past 90 plus years. Oh if these walls could talk. :)
Whether you are wanting one of our spacious suites with its own restroom or just a small room with conveniences down the hall we hope you will enjoy your stay with us and quickly recognize the labor of love that has gone into making this amazing historic property available again to the public. All rooms come with the guarantee that their restoration and presentation is done with a genuine passion for this beautiful historic property and the desire to let others share in the charm of stepping back for a short while into the 1920s.
