Gorgeous little spot right near downtown Tampa. The food was absolutely EXCELLENT and our waiter was so friendly and knowledgeable about the meals. The hostess went above and beyond to make sure we could even get a table. If you are in Tampa for anything special, make sure Chantal is your pick for dinner. Definitely make a reservation so you can be sure you'll get in. It is absolutely worth it
This evening I made it to the restaurant with 6 minutes to spare before closing. The two servers working were incredible. Nick my server told me what to order and even gave me a fantastic dessert recommendation. My wine was fantastic! My phone had died and they graciously charged my phone while I ate! I felt so at home!Food: 5/5
My husband and I celebrated New Year’s at Chanta. We’d never been and enjoyed it so so much! Every course was absolutely delicious, and the atmosphere was very cozy and charming. I recommend going if you’re able to spend a bit of time, it is a slow-paced restaurant and everything was clearly homemade. But so wonderful and we will definitely be back!
Ok, so here is the deal, first time me and my husband went to Chanta, we were enchanted with the restaurant - cute ambiance , nice Romanian wine , delicious Chicken Paprikas and Saccottini Vanessa, we had a great time! We noticed for ourselves that the buratta appetizer was decent but not the best we have had, desert was ok and coffee was overpriced $6 for espresso! And $6 for small latte and tasted just ok. Also, they do not open bottle of wine in front of you but bring you already opened bottle - I think it lessens the experience. So, why the 3 stars.. we loved the food so much that we wanted to come back and try more! We even invited our friends to go - this is where the enchantment grew into disappointment. First, the whole time we felt so rushed - rushed to order appetizers, the main dishes- the waitress brought the appetizers mussels, eggplant spread and prosciutto plate- all good and right away asked what do you want for main! Literally - Ok, what do you want … we ordered Hungarian goulash - OK, had better; champagne salmon - not worth $38 for a small piece of salmon with a side of spinach. Strawberry did not enhance the taste. The other couple ordered papardelle al salmone and a house special - Serbian meat dish. My friend absolutely did not like the papardelle , for whatever reason , she took a bite and that was it, she also did not want to take a box either , as a waitress in a nice restaurant, you ask what was wrong and try making it better but they did not care. I was still eating when they tried to take my side dish… we did not want the desert but we wanted to get more wine but no, once we said no to desert, the check was brought to us , and basically the feeling was you ate, now get out - I still had wine in my glass! And again, we ordered two bottles of wine, and both came already opened - not sure what is the point, perhaps the waitstaff does not know how to open bottles? Verdict: while I might feel the incline to try other dishes one day , I don’t think I would go back anytime soon and not with other people. We felt embarrassed to sing the praises and then receive this kind of service
I wanted to come on here and give this restaurant 5 stars. The service was great! Not long wait times and very nice people! The Romanian Doughnut was very good as well. At first we were hesitant to try a new cuisine but I’m so glad we did! The food, service, and manner of the staff as well as the restaurant environment were top notch! Will definitely go again when in Tampa!!
The food here was amazing. We went for a random date night and the food and atmosphere did not disappoint. I forget the exact name of the chicken second picture but it was amazing. I unfortunately did not write the review the same day and thus forgot the name. I guess I should go back to check. This is a great find and will be back for sure.
Definitely a hidden gem. I searched “date night” places in Tampa and had never heard of Chanta. My husband and I decided to try it and were so happy with the experience. Chanta serves European dishes rooted in Romanian, Italian, and even German cuisines. We had stuffed mushrooms, Romanian salad, pappardelle salmone, lobster ravioli, and Romanian doughnuts for dessert. The atmosphere is so cozy and you feel like you’re in a Romanian home. We will definitely go back.
Chanta is a Mediterranean family restaurant, and I'm delighted to have stumbled upon it. For a solo evening, I chose a seat at the bar, and immediately, I sensed a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The bartender took some time to chat with me about the restaurant's history. This is something I always treasure when dining at family-owned establishments. Now, about the food – I opted for the Smoked Salmon, and while I expected a bit of saltiness given the nature of the dish, it seemed to have an extra layer of seasoning that pushed it a tad over the salty edge for my taste. However, the meal ended on a sweet note with a delightful dessert that added a lovely finishing touch to my solo dinner. All in all, I want to return to Chanta and explore a different dish. Here's a quick rundown of what I ordered: Bruschetta with Tomato and Basil: A fresh and delightful starter. Smoked Salmon Pasta: A bit on the salty side, but perhaps my next choice will be more to my liking. Donuts: A delectable treat to satisfy my sweet tooth.
What a fantastic experience. Stepping into this establishment you’ll immediately notice the ambience of this family run restaurant is extremely welcoming as are all the staff and will make you feel right at home . As far as the food goes, it is phenomenal. The Hungarian goulash is incredible, and served in a stylish manner. The Saccottini Vanessa pasta is absolutely mouthwatering with that creamy truffle sauce and the homemade bread and olive oil is a great touch. 5 stars all the way
I went with my boyfriend for a romantic date. We sat outside and it was dreamy. The food was fantastic. I loved the service and the place. Cozy and romantic! Highly recommend the place and the Romanian stew Recommended dishes
