All of the folks at Chapel Hill are very skilled and helpful. This is the second or third family service they have taken care of for us. We have always been pleased with their kindness and professionalism. Thank you to the entire Chapel Hill Staff for your help and patience. With gratitude, the family of Anthony "Tony" Marcus Huggins.

It is with such a sad and heavy heart that I write this review of Chapel Hill Funeral Home. I was the type of person that thought you write Yelp about less than par restaurant services or lousy veterinarians, until something that happened last week. My father was a World War II hero. By this I mean his plane was shot down by the Germans over Belgium in 1943: he was starved, forced to march with his compatriates, and lived under the rule that if he stopped to rest, a bayonet would find its way through his skull. This happened during the coldest winter on record in Germany. If his partner to whom he was chained became weak and couldn't walk, my father would carry that man. He endured the most inhumane conditions for 14 months, until the end of the war in mid-1945. After he came back to America and secured an education and career, he married his sweetheart Myrna and spent the next 65-plus years of his life dedicated to improving services for veterans. He could often be found at the State Capital, crusading for veterans' benefits. Governor Mary Fallin rememered him well and honored his work. Later in his life, he and my mother had purchased plots at Chapel Hill. Mom and Daddy's Guardian made arrangements with Chapel Hill to arrange a full military funeral for my father. He is quite possibly the last WWII ex-POW to be buried in the state of Oklahoma. He was supposed to be celebrated with full military honors, and God knows he earned it. Right before we went into the sanctuary of the church, a gum-chomping young woman, describing herself as the new manager of Chapel Hill Funeral Home, knelt before my mother, who suffers from dementia, and told her there would be no military farewell salute graveside service, which means no 21-gun salute, due to a "paperwork mistake on our (Chapel Hill's) part." "Gee, i'm sorry, we just didn't get the paperwork done right." This is INEXCUSABLE, in the light of what my father went through to preserve the rights of the American people. Maybe this doesn't mean that much to the people of Chapel Hill, but I would have this trainee manager to know this: My father had many political differences, But at the end of the day, Delbert Byrd Coulter told me that he suffered everything he did during those days so that I could disagree with him, because the first Amendment stated we could have our differences, and that we would someday come to a place of agreement. The full military funeral is a once in a lifetime for a family who loves this man who fought so hard for his country, was shot down, burned all over his body, then forced to follow the sadistic orders of a hostile POW chief, or be the subject of attack dogs or rifles or sheer starvation. And that was IF he did what he was told. He left the US, taking an oath for his country, and he came back to his country weighing 97 pounds. And he did not receive a funeral with full military honors, because a funeral home manager says, "Gee, we messed up on the paperwork, and he won't get full military honors." Is there anything about that statement that would make you feel better? I find that there is nothing to take away the pain that Chapel Hill has caused my entire family. How could a funeral home get it wrong like this? I will tell you. No one read my father's story. It was just another dead guy. Delete review

My dad's service was just perfect. I could not have been more pleased. The staff went above and beyond to make my dad's services (funeral home and graveside) the best they could be. Everything was beautiful. Kaylee, the funeral director, was fabulous, and Rob helped get everything done on the cemetery side. The facility is beautiful and intimate, and they have lovely viewing rooms and a beautiful dining room. Thank you to everyone.
