I love the food here. I've been to 6 of the 12 Char Grill locations: the 4 in Raleigh, one in Benson, and one in Davidson. The food has been consistently great at every location. The burgers have an excellent smokey flavor, and their fries are crispy and nicely salted; having great fries to complement a burger really improves any burger experience, or so I think. And on top of that, they have splendid chocolate milkshakes. Strickland Rd is the only location in Raleigh that offers inside seating, so call and order ahead if it's cold and you don't want to wait outside!

Thank goodness the food tastes good, because you don't come here for the customer service. Ordered online, Went to pick up in person. The teenager with glasses manning the window would call out an order, help a customer for 2 seconds, slam the window shut so he could keep joking with his coworkers. Not only was our food cold when he finally served us, but an order of French fries were missing, despite having paid for it. I guess the lesson here is to either check your food at the window or pick somewhere else to eat.

Food is great and always hot! I would give 5 stars if there was better seating, but I guess taking the food somewhere else or eating in the car is part of the charming experience. I also love that they serve Cheerwine, so that's a plus!

The best way to describe char-grill is a tradition. It's the sort of place growing up that everybody goes to, and it's the sort of place where you know the food is always going to be good. 

In many respects, the menu is rather limited, there are several hamburgers, a hot dog, fries, milkshakes, bbq sandwiches, etc... Although the simplicity is not a bad thing. The few things they make, are always well made, they always come out fast, and they are always hot. The fries are some of the best I've ever had, and they give you more than a plentiful amount. Most of all, the food is cheap.

Ordering is done via a fillable form you can write in with a pencil, before pushing it through a slot, and when your order is ready, they either call out a name or number. 

The only downside is during peak hours, char-grill can be very, very busy.

Great burgers...Old School cookery.  Flavorful cross between the ooey-gooey Sonic burger and a flame broiled Burger King burger.  Walk-up service, fill out your own order slip & push it through the slot.  Everything cooked to specification.  We will be returning later.
