Charlie Hong Kong opened on a bustling street corner in Santa Cruz in 1998. The purpose: to create a neighborhood eatery with a menu that offers healthy, sustainable, flavorful food at a great value -- and served fast! Today, we’re a fun, one-of-a-kind place creating fusion dishes inspired by the savory flavors of Southeast Asia. We use locally sourced, organic produce to build our vegan-focused menu, but fish, chicken, and other meat options are also available -- we welcome all kinds here! You’re welcome to enjoy your meal on our covered patio or take it to go. We know you’re busy, active people who care about what they eat. You deserve lovingly prepared food that you’ll love and that loves you back. That’s what we’re all about!

Very neat place. The tables are technically outside but covered and essentially enclosed. You can call in your order and there's a dedicated cashier for those picking up their food. Well lit at night, not noisy, low background music. Very pleasant. The guy calling out numbers for orders that are ready was a little annoying but you get used to it.

Very Chill!!! Great high quality food!! Quick simple not expensive. A must try for anyone that likes Asian bowls. I like the ginger beef bowl A lot!

I am grateful this gem is still shining as brilliantly as ever.

I would offer an additional star, but the last few times I've encountered gritty sediment (probably from the leaves?) which can be unpleasant.

Santa Cruz's best-kept secret, healthy food that tastes wonderful. It's also one of the cheapest restaurants in town. Plus, they use organic produce. You can't go wrong.

This is also a great, fun, and relaxed place to hang out with friends, and very family-friendly. I always feel good when I eat here.

As any popular place does, it has a lunch rush around 12-1:30pm, so be prepared for a short wait around this time. However, one of the other great things about this place is that you get your food pretty quickly. I don't know how they do it.

If they had another location on the westside, I would get to eat at CHK more often. Still, it's well worth the trip! I love this place.

I've been going here for years and have noticed that they've been putting less veggies and protein in, and more noodles/rice. I have to order double veggies to get enough in my order so it ends up costing too much. Flavors and sauce are still yummy though, and every time I get a messed up order they give me tons of stamps on my card, so can't complain about that! Staff is always friendly but on busy nights it's good to just call ahead for pickup.
