To a banking consultant from customer: When I opened an account with Chase in December, I used a $300 promotion when opening the account. As you hopefully remember, I had asked several questions to make sure that I understand all the requirements and expectations that coupon entailed. You discussed with me that the account had to be set up with direct deposit, which my company changed immediately and even paid my initial direct deposit a few weeks ahead so that I would be before the February deadline – if there were any issues. My company knew about the promotion and knew that my rent deposit has to be paid by Tuesday, January 19th, so they paid me today (January 15th) knowing I was going to use the promotional value towards this deposit for my new apartment – since I just moved to Chicago. I specifically asked twice when I would receive the promotion so that I could set up the dates with my employer and future residence and you said immediately as the direct deposit goes in then I would receive the $300. After further talking to Chase corporate and the local office, I have come to realize that it takes 10 business days to receive the check. Therefore, my residence will no longer hold my spot and I will lose my place with them because I will be way beyond my due date for the remainder of me deposit. I’ve paid them a partial amount to hold it and guaranteed them payment by this Tuesday (January 19th) and they agreed to hold it until them if I paid the remaining $300. I really felt like I clarified time after time about all of the implications and went over the fine print with my employer and you so that I wouldn’t miss anything – now I am very confused and frustrated that I am in this position. This really has put me in a very difficult position with my employer and rental people, because I have to now file to get my holding deposit back with the rental company which is going to take a few days and wait 10 days to get the $300 from you all and then start the apartment searching again. My employer found out and feel like it was a waste for them to move my payment up to meet all my initial deadlines. I really hope that you are able to speak to your director and clarify when you are telling new customers when they will receive their promotional value – because there are a lot of costs involved in moving and I was depending on this promotional deposit heavily and did everything correctly on my end to make sure things were done way in advance. Now I am worse off before I began because now I will be waiting for a return on my deposit from this rental company so that I can go and find a new place. Not really looking forward to banking with Chase after this.
