PROs: Old but quaint place, decor is chic. Hostess and customer service is excellent. Food is good quality and attn to detail was noticeable. Mini muffins were served as appetizers but not sure if they were GF and I failed to ask. CONs: No designated parking for the restaurant, it's a hassle to find one up close during busy hours. We ordered: Healthy Hippie, American Breakfast omelet, and a decaf latte. Vanessa, waitress at the time, was in training and did just fine.
One of my clients came back from lunch at Chestnut Tree and was just glowing about the food there, so we decided to try it out for ourselves. The service was outstanding, really extraordinarily friendly and fast. My vegan meal was excellent and I especially appreciate that the server took pains to make sure that the potatoes were vegan. My husband enjoyed the Monte Cristo sandwich. All in all, a terrific addition to Denton's square. Vegetarian options: Vegetarian and vegan options are clearly labeled and supported.
A hidden gem in Denton, TX. Upscale atmosphere and service. Casual or business casual attire. The staff was exceptional the moment I walked in. I mentioned it was my first visit, and Zella was very patient and explained the menu. I fully enjoyed the pancakes and Gravlax and toasted bagel. I also had a pineapple mimosa that was well balanced. The restroom has a cute decor and was clean. I will absolutely revisit without hesitation.
I ordered the quiche. It was less than stellar. The only thing I could taste was chives. There was no depth of flavor. No ham or cheese was evident, either. Would not order again, nor would I recommend.Food: 1/5
Went to meet a friend I haven't seen in 40 years. Staff welcomed us to continue our visit during the time they were closed between lunch and dinner since I drove so far to meet her. Food was delicious, restroom clean and they offer tables outside too. I will definitely return on my next visit to Denton Food: 5/5
The floors, tables, chairs were dirty. Passing through to the bathroom, the food prep floor was dirty. The adult grill cheese had poor quality cheese and prosciutto. I hardly ate any of it. The water from the hot tea had a taste to it. I’m not sure they used filtered water. I would not recommend or eat here again. It would do if there is no other option or you are hungry. Service was adequate.
We love coming here for brunch on the weekend. They often have a mimosa bar set up, which we love! The food is wonderful and the breakfast potatoes are the BEST. If you like tea, try the Denton fog. It is so, so good. On the weekends they often have a live music duo that gives the perfect setting for a leisurely brunch. We rarely have to wait and the waitstaff has always been kind and knowledgeable. This is the perfect place for breakfast, brunch, or lunch.
A place a have been wanting to go back to but keep forgetting about. Today we made it for lunch with colleagues. I like that breakfast/brunch options are available at lunch time. The food was excellent and the service was great! The service was not super fast but cooking from scratch takes time. I will definitely be back!Food: 5/5
Previously, we ate here on what was the re-opening day after their renovations a couple months ago, and everything was excellent: the food, the service, the vibe, etc. This time however, things were a bit less so. We came for brunch and ordered the Monte Cristo sandwich and the breakfast sandwich, with a side of bacon. We were very surprised to see that the side of bacon which cost $4 consisted of just two very small, sad looking pieces. Definitely recommend not ordering those. The Monte Cristo was great, if a bit too packed. The breakfast sandwich however was a little disappointing: the Texas toast was thin and barely toasted so perhaps try ordering it on a croissant or bagel instead and the sausage patties seemed pre-cooked to me, though I can't say for certain of course. If I had to order it again, I would try the ham instead. The one thing we both were looking forward to were the home potatoes, which had been cooked with this really tasty seasoning the last time we were here. This time, unfortunately, the seasoning wasn't there. Our server was pleasant and very personable. However, when it came time to pay the check we had to flag down another server to take our card after waiting for a while. Everything still tasted *good* but it was just missing something that had been present just a couple months prior. Perhaps a new cook in the kitchen? I can't say for certain. However, I definitely want to see this local business succeed because the Denton square needs as many great local restaurants as it can get! Maybe next time we're up there we will come back again and try a new menu item
Cute place for breakfast and lunch. It was really busy, so I appreciated how the wait staff managed everyone. I enjoyed my breakfast and hot tea, and my husband said his poached eggs were perfect. Prepare for a wait on the weekends.Food: 5/5
