Never heard of Chevys Fresh Mex until a childhood friend took me to one in Sacramento on the Garden Highway. The friendly and attentive service as well as the fresh Mexican food are excellent. The interior is beautiful with high ceilings on the first floor. There is also seating outside and upstairs. Clean bathrooms. During our dinner, a photographer took our picture. I bought the photos since I was flying back to the East Coast that night and it was going to a long time before I would see my friend again. Prices were very reasonable for food, drinks, and photos. We happened to come during happy hour since my flight in the early evening. My friend later told me that Chevys is a national chain.
Came here for our 5th Anniversary this year 2022. Loved the restaurant on the water. My waiter was so nice he showed my pics of his son whose the same age as my daughter and we had much in common with him and his wife...jus good conversation! Food looked great when it arrived mine was warm not frest but I was Starving so I just ate it!! Overall great place!
I'm not a big fan of Chevys, but the food this time was better than previous visits. My husband did not like the tamales they weren't flavorful at all. My tacos were good, but there was no sauce on them. I love sitting by the water and the drinks are fire!Food: 3/5
I had the Chile marinated steak with enchilada, I added chicken for $2 Other plate was chicken and shrimp enchiladas with habanero pesto sauce. I guess my only gripe, I was never asked how I want my steak? But I assumed it would come medium well and I didn't ask so that's partially on me I guess
Each time I have visited the restaurant it is Never crowded which is nice. I like the outside dinning option by the river especially during the warm days but on a cool night the patio is too cold. Heat lamps not warm enough or not enough to heat area. Tables out side can get checked little more often for creepy crawlers as environment on the river promotes nature to exolore . The bathrooms are up stairs an haven't notice where the elevator is if one. Parking is limited and tight fitting slots. I do enjoy the food an always good. Drinks are made well and good happy hour!!
Came in for Sunday brunch at around 945... the website stated a menu and that brunch was from 9am to 3pm... nope upon arrival we were informed brunch stopped at 11am. Which was a little displeasing but ok. We opted to sit outside which was lovely. We ordered off the menu along with bottomless mimosas and bloody marry. Drinks were ok considering they were bottomless, just don't expect to taste any alcohol. The food options were slim and not really satisfying. The only good thing was the regular breakfast along with Pancakes. Overall everything was just ok... probably won't be doin brunch here again..

I’ve been to Chevys a few times, food is great for a Mexican American experience, guacamole is good, drinks are amazing except for the micheladas don’t get the micheladas, my husband makes them better we home lol corn bread is delicious food overall is great but the customer service needs some improvement, coming from working at a restaurant , I know it can be challenging but when you’re sitting at a table for over an hour and the server only has three other tables I expect at least a drink or chips and salsa while you wait. The whole Chevy experience is nice but there is room for growth. It’s a place where I would recommend to go at least once on a life time when you’re in Sacramento but not a place I would brag about taking outside visitors. I give it only 3 stars out of 5 although it has potential for Improvement . We waited almost three hours to get our food. The girls at the bar were amazing, they were on point and hollering while we waited but our waiter was not even checking in on us. I would definitely come back but not my regular spot to visit
The service was good, our waiter was very friendly. I had a house margarita and it was great. The food was good, I had to say the rice was on the salty end. The downside is that the service was a little slow. Parking: It can be difficult to find parking during dinner service/happy hour and weekends.
The lady who served us was super friendly and attentive, and the drinks were fine. However, the food was hilariously disappointing. The appetizers are WAY overpriced for what you get. We ordered the “Carne Asada Fries” for $12 and basically got soggy fries topped with no more than 5 pieces of dry and bland steak, a couple of slivers of onion and bell pepper, a blob of sour cream and what looked like canned nacho cheese. It might’ve convinced a Karen or two but it’s still ridiculously subpar for Tex-Mex. The complimentary chips and salsa were OK. Sad to say we won’t be coming back, because it looks like a great location to enjoy some drinks and food by the river. If only they invested as much in their kitchen as they did in decorating and dressing the place up with 15 TV-screens…
