First time here. There was a line outside to get in worth the wait!!! I ordered the pepper balls, Mac n cheese, potato salad, and candied yams. Hubby ordered fried catfish, Mac n cheese, candied yams, and crawfish hush puppies. Both really enjoyed the meal. Now I need a pillow and a blanket.Food: 5/5
Long long long line but totally worth the one hour wait. The portion was huge, so people with smaller appetites can probably share one entree. My favorite was the braised oxtail over rice, followed by the stuffed catfish. All of the sides were delicious.Food: 5/5
Definitely worth the wait!! The food is consistent; EVERYTHING I’ve had from Chicken’s Kitchen, has been fresh and delicious. The staff is amazing. I’ve gotten lucky a few times with shorter wait times when I went before 12:00?and after 1:00, there was little to no wait…it varies, though. Follow their Instagram for updates!. I’m looking forward to going back again, soon!
By far, some of the best food around NOLA. I found this place on Tik Tok and was hooked! Had to come try it all the way from East TX. We've been on a Tuesday and Thursday and the food was out of this world good. 1 plate can feed 2 people minimum. I recommend the lasagna, fried cat fish, fried ribs, crawfish Monica, the seafood and turkey dressing and ALL THE SIDES especially that Mac n cheese
There was a bit of a wait 45+ mins and we got there at 10:45 am but well worth it. First of all I appreciate the chairs lined up along the wall so you can sit in line vs stand. It definitely makes a difference. You can smell the food from outside. The Turkey necks were so tender, the Mac & cheese and greens were on point I have absolutely no complaints. The peach cobbler tasted more like a dump cake or peach bread pudding the flavor was not bad but I prefer the flaky crust. Overall I will definitely be back here since there menu changes everyday I’m curious to try other dishes and it was worth the wait and money spent.
The red beans were ok, the chicken was good, but the rest of my sides were inedible. The macaroni was salty and bland, the coco greens were overly sweet and wierd tasting and the pepper balls were inedible due to the amount of salt. I wanna support black restaurants but we gotta be better about using quality ingredients not canned processed stuff and using seasoning to flavor other than salt, especially considering high blood pressure is our arch nemesis.
Y'all, let me tell you about this food spot I stumbled upon. I'm talkin' about a hidden gem that'll make your taste buds do the electric slide. If you're craving some Southern soul food that tastes like your grandma made it, this place is the holy grail. Now, picture this: you walk in, and the aroma hits you like a warm hug from your sweet old granny. The place is cozy and everyone greets you with a smile. You know you're in for a treat. First up, let's talk about their seafood dressing. Oh, man! This ain't your average side item, folks. This is the kind of dressing that'll make you want to slap your mama...in a good way, of course. It is juicy and seasoned to perfection. It's like a taste bud symphony, y'all. But wait, there's more. The mac and cheese? Creamy, cheesy goodness that'll transport you straight to comfort food heaven. It's like a warm blanket for your soul. And don't even get me started on the yams. They're so flavorful, you'll be convinced they were cooked with a sprinkle of magic. Now, let's talk about the variety of options with the daily specials, whew, give me one of everything, sir!!! The prices are unreal! So much food for a great price! And for dessert, they've got so many cakes! I didn’t even make it that far. So, if you're in the mood for some Southern soul food that'll make you feel like you're sittin' at Grandma's kitchen table, look no further. This place is a culinary time machine that'll take you back to a simpler, tastier era. Just be prepared to loosen that belt buckle, 'cause you're gonna want to eat until you can't move. Trust me, your taste buds will be forever grateful. My biggest takeaway is this gentleman loves what he does, uses top notch ingredients and cooks with his heart and soul. Much love and see you soon!!!
I have been following this place for almost a year seeing pics and videos of the food. We ended up paying more for the uber to get here than the food. It was amazing and worth the wait. First time trying fried ribs and they were incredible. We even talked our uber driver into parking his vehicle and eating here.
Parking is on the street just an FYI if parking is a concern for you. Arrived Friday at noon, wait was NOT long they have a great system in place to rotate people in and out. Now to the food....understand in my opinion this is soul foul with a twist. The flavors are not what you would except from a traditional grandma's Thanksgiving meal. Everything was exceptional, be prepared for well seasoned and flavor rich food. The fish was perfectly fried to where it was not dry and let me mention again well seasoned. Let's talk about this mac... I absolutely have no words to describe it besides your missing out. Coco green, not your traditional greens the flavors combined with coconut, whew chile who would have thought of such a thing and it turned out absolutely delicious. Crawfish hushpuppies were not greasy or heavy, great balance of crawfish in a bite sized ball. Fried pepper balls, another must try. The blend of bell pepper, seafood, meat, and flavor. The dishes I've tried were not overpowered by spice. You will get a mouth full of well seasoned flavor. Definitely will try again.
someone sent me this place on TikTok because they had these long lines. so when I went home I had to check it out. I went on Friday which I didn't know was "fry-day", anyway I figured I'd try as much as I could. got there at 9:50, there were 3 ppl ahead of me. the fried items are pretty standard..chicken, catfish are solidz nothin special. my wife had the fried salmon, she said it was good. I did not get the fried ribs the sides are hit and miss. you get 1 large side, and two small sides. however you can split the large side so you can really get 4 sides with your entree. I enjoyed the Mac, yams, and dirty rice. I missed the jambalaya. the "candied" green beans gotta go, and the "coco" greens, I guess they adding coconut water or something to them, are absolutely terrible. you cant have two sweet green vegetables. Im all for trying new methods but those greens ain't it. the king cake bread pudding was something special, I'd do just for that. Id like to go on another day to try some of the other offerings, but I don't think I'm willing to stand in line.
