Great historic and well preserved site. Originally built in 1797. Well maintained. Been going here since I was a kid. Just went back recently. In superb shape for being over 200 years old! Call ahead to arrange for a tour.

The John Ross House is an important part of Chattanooga and U.S. history. The Foundation has done a great job preserving the House and using it to illustrate a picture of the impact Chief John Ross had on the Cherokee Nation, the Trail of Tears, and American history. It is well worth a visit--currently by appointment only--while the City of Rossville does its best to ignore and marginalize their namesake.

Many thanks to the Association for the loving care you've shown for Chief Ross's home. It was an honor to finally see it with my own eyes, and I look forward to coming back this summer for an internal tour. This home is just as important as a past President's home in light of the amazing history of the Cherokee Nation and the indefatigable leadership of this great and honest man!
