Story

In the Chinese culture, food has always been the one constant that has brought family members together, and it was this cultural impact that led to Siu and Albert Chiu’s decision to open up China Chef in Bay City in 1983. The inspiration for China Chef stemmed from the familiar foods that had always been a part of their lives and the desire to share this unique cuisine with others. Siu and Albert’s bold move to establish the first Chinese restaurant in Bay City gave the community an opportunity to experience a new and different style of cuisine that had never been introduced in this area before. In return, the residents of Bay City have shown their appreciation for Chinese food by continually dining at China Chef and forming long lasting relationships with our restaurant. China Chef offers a wide variety of dishes ranging from the staple favorite of General Tso’s Chicken, to more authentic dishes such as Hong Shew Gai Kew. In addition, China Chef also felt that it was important to keep the regional dishes available on their menu to include familiar Southern style cuisine, such as Chicken Fried Steak and the old-fashioned hamburger. China Chef is an embodiment that represents the American culture – a mixing pot of both familiar and foreign, a simply good infusion.
