At first, I loved this restaurant! I visited it at least twice per week, but as of late, the quality of their food when ordered for take out has been very disappointing, to say the least! $60 worth of food and not even half is edible when arriving home, just 2-3 minutes away from the restaurant, literally! I order nachos, which is mush by the time I arrive home. This restaurant is definitely hit and miss, but IF their standards rise to the level they were when this place originally opened, then I’d recommend it to everyone. I don’t like leaving negative reviews, but after the 6-7 time of the same routine with this restaurant, I felt like I needed to put my two sense in!
Won’t be returning for sure and if we had known it only changed names from Chuy to Chivos, we never would have gone back in the first place. It wasn’t the absolute worst Mexican in the world but they are trying to claim it’s “made from scratch Mexican” and that couldn’t be the furthest from the truth. This is stated everywhere from the Northsore magazine to their Facebook page. The chips were thick and hard and definitely store bought, the tamale was a blonde white color that I’ve never seen on a tamale before and the Chile rellano tasted like it had been sitting in grease for quite a while with parts of the breading being hard and stale. The tortillas are not homemade. I even asked about that one. I make my own homemade tortillas at home and believe me it makes a big difference. The rice is orange in color with diced up carrots and corn in it. They had to change their name because of the Chuy’s chain that actually does make their tortillas homemade and the steak for their fajitas is tender quality steak actually cooked to order instead of steak that’s so thin it’s impossible to cook to the temperature that the customer wants. I like mine medium rare and that’s exactly what I get every time at the real Chuy’s in the most amazing soft pillowy flour HOMEMADE tortillas that are pressed out and cooked right before your eyes. I’m glad they made you change your name because you will never live up to those standards until you change how you run your restaurant. I don’t appreciate a restaurant claiming to offer something they don’t really have and deceiving their customers. I ordered a to go order once before for my son who was in the hospital and had all these same complaints about his food but I thought this was a new restaurant. That’s the only reason we went back but it will never happen again. Chivos, shame on you for claiming you have fresh homemade quality food when in reality you just cut corners and strive for quantity over quality. I’ll give you one thing and that’s all and that is that the top shelf margarita was pretty good. Otherwise, don’t waste your time and money.
Delicious. Hot, yummy. Price is right. Been there many times in the past month. Found out about Taco Tuesday. It is a trat to have great Mexican food even when they have a weekly special Ike Taco Tuesday. Brought home 8 Street Tacos and three seafood tacos. They were all as delicious as the first. While the seafood Taco was a little more expensive....it was well worth the money. If you have a couple of extra dollars, let me suggest you try to get to Chivos on 190...and get a big bang for your bucks.
Amazing food and service. We love the vibe here and come often to get our salsa fix.
Really enjoyed our lunch and the staff was great when we had adults at one table & teens at another and needed to tell him which kid to put on which check. Very friendly staff and tasty meal. I really liked their tortillas.Food: 5/5
Decided to try a new Mexican restaurant, even after two baskets of stale chips, I still had hopes for a good entree after all of the great reviews. I got the chicken, vegetables and rice with queso and my wife got a tamale and an enchilada with the rice and beans. The rice was bland and tasted like it had been sitting for a day and a half and the top was very dry, the enchilada sauce lacked flavor, and the vegetable had no color and tasted like they like they had been microwaved. Overall the only things that were okay were the beans and the queso dip
Potosinas. Steak was cooked perfect and tender. My favorite dish. They do it right.Food: 4/5
Cold food delivered by rude wait staff. After informing the manager of our experience, with nothing expected but for his awareness, he called us names, including rednecks... note, we have a 7-figure income and laughably told us that he pays more in taxes than we do and that we could go somewhere else, just assuming we wanted something. We ate our 1-star, cold food and honestly expected nothing but for him to hear of our 1st complaint ever and he lost his mind. He even told us that he was an American citizen. This guy has a screw loose and is going to destroy what could be at least a decent Mexican restaurant. We'll make sure that he gets all of the recognition he deserves.
Love that they offer lunch specials everyday! Great price for quality food! Definitely coming back soon!
Ordered $80 worth of take out food, when I got home I had one of the small roaches in my kids tacos. I immediately drove 20 minutes back to the restaurant and the manager/owner refused to remake food and said it didn’t come from here. I literally opened the box and put it on a plate for my 4 year old and there it was. I wasn’t asking for my money back just to remake my kids food. This place is has absolutely horrible customer service and will never be returning.
