Get ready for a not your average soup and sandwich place!! Everything we had was amazing, and of the 3 chowders we had I couldn't pick a favorite. The special was a bacon, ham, potato chowder, and we also had the clam and the smoked steelhead. Sandwiches were all amazing as well, Cuban, meatball, pesto grilled cheese, and turkey pesto.
Claim chowder was really good! No ice for your drinks or water which made the experience a little off. We ordered two sandwiches, one of which was good, the other, meatball sandwich was not good. Soggy bun, yet somehow crumbly and dry. Service from our waitress was just okay. No refills, didn't ask about the 75% of the sandwich that was being returned. Again, chowder was worth coming back for! Star of the show!
Fabulous new soup and sandwich joint on Monroe! The chowders are full of flavor, the sandwiches full of fresh, inventive ingredients, and if you get tots or fries don't miss out on the amazing fry sauce! A bread or roll side would be a welcome addition to a full bowl of soup, but that's not going to stop me from making this a regular stop. The cozy atmosphere, great service, and well curated menu are not to be missed!!
I've been excited to try this place out, as there's nothing I love more than a good sandwich, and chowderhead certainly did not disappoint! We came in at lunchtime on a Saturday and stepped into a lively restaurant with a very friendly, welcoming vibe. There were a couple of large groups and people coming and going to pick up takeout orders as well. It's great to see the community support a new restaurant, and it's certainly no question as to why chowderhead is getting that support. The food is absolutely fantastic, the staff are friendly, and the atmosphere is very welcoming. Definitely an excellent addition to the food scene in Spokane. I had the chop cheese sandwich with a bowl of smoked steelhead salmon chowder and both exceeded my already high expectations. I am already planning on coming back as soon as I can to try the meatball and burrata sandwich, and pretty much everything else!
The food was phenomenal! Went in for an impromptu lunch after passing by it many times, and so glad we did. Everything was super fresh and unique. We will be back soon!
Amazing food, comfortable atmosphere and super friendly staff. Definitely recommend stopping by for the cheese steak and/or meatball sandwich! I think we just found our new lunch spot.
With a name like Chowderhead they better bring it... And they do. Very hearty and flavorful chowders. The smoked steelhead is smoked by the chef. They have a rotating special chowder that changes frequently. They also have some vegan and Vegetarian options. All in all, does not disappoint, great food.
Everything was insanely good! Both sandos we had were fantastic chop cheese & cheesesteak, with the most amazing in-house baked bread. My husband is a “tot snob” and thought the tots were perfect. I had a side of steelhead chowder and it was hands-down the best bowl of soup I’ve had since moving to Spokane. I also grabbed a bowl of the classic clam chowder to take home and it was great, too. Excellent service/staff. I love this quirky restaurant space, and wish Chowderhead all the lasting success because I seriously want to come feast here weekly!
I'm vegan and heard from the Facebook vegan group that there is a vegetarian and vegan menu! My partner and I were looking for a new place to try, so we decided on Chowderhead! The customer service was so kind and answered any questions we had. I ordered the mushroom and lentil Sloppy Joe with a side of tator totes, which was so yummy! I liked the little bite of spice! My partner vegetarian ordered the Gochujang Cauliflower and loved it. Next time he wants to try the Sloppy Joe! Definitely recommend this friendly and tasty lunch spot!
You’re insane not to eat here. Best soup I’ve had in my life. Sandwich options are divine and they are undoubtedly the best Spokane has to offer.Recommended dishesMeatball and Burrata Sandwich, Clam Chowder, Chopped Cheese, Smoked Steelhead Chowder
