Christ Apostolic Church House of Praise
Brief History at a Glance
In summer of 1982, there was a gathering of a small group of Nigerians during an evangelical visit to Washington, DC by the then Christ Apostolic Church World-wide Representative, Prophet T.O Obadare. This “gathering” was the birth of Christ Apostolic Church in the Washington metropolitan area. Worship services began in one of the members residence located at 1465 Columbia Road Washington DC. In 1984, Evangelist Samuel Fadojutimi was sent from Christ Apostolic Church headquarters in Nigeria to lead this small group and soon this modest congregation journeyed from an apartment to a two-storey building located at 1545 6th street NW, Washington DC.
Pastor Samuel Fadojutimi left the mission in 1989 and Pastor Paul Obadare took over from him. 1992 was a trying period for the assembly due to an administrative conflict which later caused majority of the members to move out of 1545 6th st church. The first service after this move took place at Armstrong Adult Education center building on 3rd and O st, NW. A couple of months later, the church was able to secure a space at AME church building on 11th and M street, NW under the leadership of a newly assigned minister- Pastor Alfred Shasanmi.
In 1993, Pastor Shasanmi was transferred by the mission to one of the assemblies in London. Through all these, God was building his church and the members continued to stand firm. In 1994-1995 was more or less a vacuum period in terms of pastoral leadership. During this period, all the leaders of the church, led by the Patron, Elder Kunle Aladeselu handled both the spiritual and administrative affairs of the church. And with the utmost cooperation and participation of the entire congregation, the church of God continued to march forward.
Even during this period, God was faithful unto us. He provided for us a servant of His who was gracious enough to shuttle between two churches. He was at that time a resident pastor of one of our churches in Los Angeles, but for a year or more he traveled back and forth to be a “Transit Pastor” to this church of God. However, towards the end of 1995, God perfected His plans and then the “Transit Pastor” moved down to Washington to take over the Pastoral duties of the church.
C.A.C House of Praise moved into her present building in October 1995.
To God Be the Glory for Great Things He Hath Done.
The Mission of its members
As we continue to praise God for all He is through united worship, personal communion with our Lord Jesus Christ and sensitivity to the Holy Spirit, we are trusting God for more grace in the following:
To provide saints the spiritual growth in Christ through the presentation and clear application of Bible Doctrines; enhance a hearty and willing service to their living God.
To provide for one another as members of God's family through a selfless service, intercessory prayer and Christian fellowship.
The proclamation of the Gospel through collective and personal evangelistic outreach as the core of our purpose.
To provide a “Feed the Hungry" program. Through this program we hope to provide food, clothing, basic education, counseling and financial support to the poor, the needy and the homeless people in our community
