Welcome to the Christian Hospital EMS and EMS Academy page, which serves to inform the public, our patients and Academy students about the CHEMS mission and operations.

Story

Christian Hospital Emergency Medical Services (CHEMS) provides emergency services to North St. Louis County fire districts and communities serving more than 210 square miles, as well as outlying communities like St. Charles and Alton.

CHEMS responds to approximately 40,000 calls annually, making us the third-busiest 911 provider in the state of Missouri. Our fleet consists of 22 ambulances and three command/triage vehicles, plus a truck and trailer for disaster response. We employ 80 full-time first responders and 25 on-call responders.

Since opening in 2013, over 70 courses have been offered to students at the academy. Christian Hospital EMS (CHEMS) Academy provides a challenging yet rewarding curriculum for students looking to advance in the emergency medical services field. CHEMS Academy offers a wide selection of courses such as 12-lead EKG training, and many NAEMT courses in addition to the EMT and Paramedic programs. The Academy is focused on equipping students with the knowledge and resources needed to be successful on the job.
