My husband filed a police report after a so called friend wrote him a bad check that was over $3,000.00.  The police did their job and arrested him, but when he went to court, the judge threw it out due to them not having enough funds to try the case.  I have NEVER heard of such a thing.  So we are just out of luck?  We were told to file a civil suit, which we did, but the guy left the state.  Thank you Baker County for justice being served!!  Bravo!  The police and the sheriff's office had never heard of a case being thrown out for lack of funds.  The Baker County Courthouse failed us big time.  Now there is nothing we can do.  We are out over $3,000.00 along with filing fees, serving fees, etc.  Sad thing is, nobody there cares.  I've talked to several people and they just brush me off.  Very disappointed!!
