Pretty thorough shop with decent prices. A bit lacking in beer options. In CA, grocery stores are usually the best option price-wise for beer, and they usually have pretty good variety. Not so much here. If you have time, go to the liquor store in the same strip mall. Better options and prices.

This is a nice store. The staff is always very friendly and helpful. We only come to Steamboat Springs once a year at the end of August, but it's always good to come back to a familiar place. See you next year!

City Market: a great place to shop. As a sometime manager, hands on healthcare worker and connoisseur of good service, I am constantly balancing "Character vs Competency," when deciding whether or not I'm going to continue shopping at certain businesses. For damn sure I'm not shopping anyplace that is not strong in at making me feel welcome, or at least being competent. The rarest thing to come across is someone who has an abundance of both of those things... City Market has a few peeps like that. Torrey, and the rest of the pharmacy team have the best combination of competency, and people skills I've experienced the year and a half I've lived here. The one time I did have a problem there, Torrey and company quickly told me that "under NO circumstances do they want to lose me as a customer". If that's not love, I don't know what is. (It's a small town, we're neighbors; it's ok to show a lil neighborly love to your customers at the time.) Just because Steamboat is ridiculously friendly and fun, you don't always have the same caliber of service. The majority of places you go are staffed with Ski/Hiking/Biking/Fishing fanatics... (I'm still here because I just can't leave God's Country, it's too incredible.) Many staffers have second, third, even four jobs to make ends meet. So, you're not as likely to get served by someone who cares as much about you or their job as you might expect. No, it's the amount fresh powder, high water, fall colors they are missing out on while at work... The pool of both qualified and competent people employers have to choose from is smaller than that of non-resort towns/cities like Steamy. To find the occasional person that ALSO exudes true caring and let you, the customer, know they care... That's rare. Torrey and the team have never let me down, and Torrey always helps me find the cheapest deal on my prescriptions by going above and beyond what I thought pharmacies/pharmacists/pharmacy techs normally do. As a registered nurse I know a bit about how complicated her job navigating the byzantine mire that is a bureaucratic hell that becomes more complicated daily. Still, she makes it look damn easy. Now that I know how good pharmacy service should be, I'm never going to settle for less again! There are some other people I really like to see when I'm there as well... I know I'm going to leave with better food for dinner with their help. Berri and Brodie have both helped me, even though I didn't know I needed it. (I'm not normally one to want to ask for help at the grocery store... As single male just learning to cook however...) Well, Berrie and Brodie both came to me when it was obvious I was having trouble deciding what to buy. Both times, they gave me great advice, helped me save some $$$ and helped me make better meals. I shop there every other day or so, and I have NEVER left in a worse mood than I came in with. Doesn't seem like much to say that, but I don't go shopping to improve my day regardless of how stellar or crappy it's been. When staff like Torrey consistently make it better anyway... I can't put that into words how rare that is. City Market, a GREAT place to shop. Indeed.

The service, staff and selection are great. Is it at all possible to take room away from the over-the-counter drug isle and give more room to produce? We shoppers have a huge log jam in produce and it makes us crazy. Thank you, Carol Sitlington. ( You probably know my husband; he's in there almost daily. )
