Happened to pass thru in July, 2012.  Stopped at the Log Cabin Cafe, a cozy restaurant for an early dinner.  Great food and service.  Waitress told us about the Choteau city park, just a few blocks away, that allowed camping.  The Montana State Oldtime Fiddler's contest was that night and also a full moon.  What a serendipitous find!

There is no celebration of 4th of July as there is here in this town!  Boy do they know how to party right.  However, come winter, fall, spring or summer, it is also a relaxing, quiet and fun town to spend time in... the people are friendly, the food is good, and the mountains are easy to get to for some good camping!
