This is about the district administration, not the schools. The administrators of this district  are some of the most ignorant, arrogant, tyrannical, greedy, blind to reality people I have ever known of. First of all, this is in Tennessee, and all of Tennessee's public education system is laughable because of things such as how early they start in the year (for Christ's sake!) But it's not just that, this district is the worst of the worst! They won't listen to a single THING parents and teachers say, hastily ignoring requests for such things as later yearly and daily start times, and they also ignore such things as recommendations from educational experts. Even many of the employees including teachers and principals are dissatisfied too, and get ignored. They consistently refuse rights entitled to students under federal law. The maintenance is terrible and the food is an absolute ABOMINATION! They tend to allocate money for accesories and egotistical projects such as turf for the football fields, and not for necessities such as repairing bathrooms (where in the middle and high school most stalls won't even lock!) and cleaner facilities. However, the schools overall all are not bad at all, with great academics and opportunities and many high achieving students and wonderful teachers. I'd give the schools a 3 or 4 out of 5, but this is not because of the district, but because of the local school administration, who, as I mentioned, many of them are dissatisfied with the district.

This school system is a joke and, if your child is special needs they will pretty much be neglected. This school system lacks the know how when it comes to the matters of students that have a Individualized Educational Plan (IEP). I should have kept my family back in NorthEast Ohio or moved us to my homestate of Indiana where we have the resources that are need for circumstances such as this. Cleveland City School in Tennessee is a joke and from what I am hearing from people up north like myself that live here the rest of this state is pretty much the same. No wonder Tennessee is made fun of especially when it comes to their educational system.

Disabled students, disabled parents, homeless children, anyone who doesn't fit this school systems affluent family status will be ignored, refused education and services under Federal law that you are all entitled too, if you need documentation, forget it! This district is the most dishonest, deceptive District I have ever seen and tried to work with. Make sure you keep copies and witnesses to everything, they alter records, have committed insurance fraud regarding issues on school property and to try to benefit the district when Federal laws have been violated. Google Martin Ringstaff Cleveland City Schools. That's how far this district is willing to go to cover up bad behavior. Seriously consider a different school PRIOR to enrolling here once you are here...you won't get the services you and your children are entitled...such as involved parents trying to advocate for their children. This school doesn't like the extra work or intelligent involved parents who are Federal Law savvy. Good luck!!!
