A strong contender for my fave café in the USA. It's located in a brick fortress, which looks ancient but was built from scratch a decade ago along a blind canal that branches from the nearby St. Joseph's River. Dining here is a multi-sensory experience: on a bright summer day the main patio along the canal is lustrous as a Renoir painting: full of vibrant flowers and plasticine succulents. Grab a seat at one of the umbrella-shaded tables and watch the masts of the boats bobbing in the marina next door. This is an ideal place to bring your summer beach read or a print edition of the Sunday Times and linger over a lap bowl of coffee and a hearty portion of oatmeal. Or try a power smoothie or one of their many interesting entrees. Prices are a little steep for a coffee spot, and yes service - as a few gripers have pointed out in low-ball reviews - can be slow. But this is a summer bohemian hangout where, for a single Andy Jackson, you can enjoy a solid meal while immersing yourself in a magical setting. Think of it as breakfast crossed with a day retreat. Err, make that a half-day retreat since Cliffords shuts promptly at 1 pm. That's about my only complaint about the place. Otherwise it's radiant.
Very nice “spot” on the canal. The menu is lively and the food is fresh. Great service and great atmosphere!Food: 5/5
Sooooo pretty place I ordered a muffin banana chocolate chip 5bucks. And super banana smoothie 9bucks Smoothie was so good. Taste like a heatly something... Lol not factory taste. But muffin... Top of muffin was deliouse .... But..it's feeling like a i was chewed the scone.. It's kinda hard.. Not that soft And the muffin sheet was so sticky that it was difficult to eat.I think the price is worth the nice view. And park lot is so small. So it's better to walk
I can't speak for the food because I only got a coffee to go. But the caramel iced latte was delicious! A little pricey, but I would definitely come back. I absolutely loved all of the plants, fountains, and birds!! This shop is so beautiful!Food: 5/5
This place is so cute with a sort of quirky garden vibe, reminded me of a studio ghibli movie. Great coffee, indoor and outdoor seating. We tried their strawberry muffin which had an amazing crumble on top but was a little doughy inside. Like others have said, parking could be an issue - we went on a Sunday morning and found parking but there’s only maybe 4-5 spots. Definitely worth checking out and we would come back here!
This cafe is a hidden gem! You won't find a more unique and beautiful place to have a coffee or brunch. Tip: Park a few places down the road if the lot is full. The yogurt bowl is amazing, but you're really going here for the botanical/ boho vibe more than anything else. Highly recommend!Food: 5/5
Ken and Connie have created an absolute OASIS to have your coffee. Curated plants and flowers abound with pockets of live birds. The coffee and pastry were just as amazing. A++Food: 5/5
The staff are all very nice. The flowers and plants on the roof and patio are all beautifully tended. The seating is comfortable, and the view next to the river is lovely. The food is a little over priced for me but it was delicious, as was the coffee.
Sweets staff I’ve ever come across. I ordered the Ken’s killer omelette and it was delicious. Super big portions too which is a bonus. The ambiance was great and I loved the decor.Food: 5/5
This place is absolutely beautiful inside - magical, even. It's like a visit to The Secret Garden. On the minus, it's a bit difficult to get around because it's so stuffed full of plants. We sat near an open window and had a lovely time watching a little group of sparrows hopping around and playing. We got our food and lattes surprisingly quickly given how busy they were when we visited. So why only 3 stars? You are paying for the ambiance more than the quality or quantity of food. It's not that anything we ordered was bad, but it was only OK - and very pricey for what you got. Shown in my photos are two 16oz lattes $5.75 + .75c for oatmilk + .75c for flavor; Brisket Tostada $14.50; Barbacoa Tacos $14.50; & Sausage Egg & Cheese Biscuit aka Canal Classic $8.75 biscuits only available on weekends. Everything was good, but like I said, the food itself was not good enough to justify the prices. If you are an out-of-towner or even an in-towner who's never been, I absolutely recommend visiting, the ambiance is magical and you will remember your visit. If you're looking more for different / good food or coffee from local non-chain places, there are other places I'd go first e.g. Mason Jar, Broadstreet Cafe, Tosi's Cafe, Dino's, Sophia's, Hub Central 185, Six Chicks Scratch Kitchen. Oh, and another tip.... don't even try the parking lot. It's very claustrophobic, with only about 3 spots and not a lot of room to turn around. Finding a parking spot down the road and walk.
