Let’s do the good first - the seats were comfy and the theater clean. The staff were nice. Now for the rest… I booked seats right smack in the middle but when I got to the theater, turned out they were on the side. I don’t even know how that could go wrong. Unexpected but no biggie, except the screen looks dark on the far end! After literally a century of movies, how do you design a screen that distorts half the image from what should be a decent seat? Not to mention that the handlebar obstructed part of the view. I didn’t think it was possible for Barbie to look dark but here you have it. See photos and how dark the right side looks which I have never done before! Movies=phone off. As for the food, popcorn was not fresh guessing made offsite, butter didn’t taste anything like butter and this measly handful of pretzels is what I got for $13.95. Thank goodness they had mustard packets. It makes me sad to leave this review but you need to know this before you spend money at this cinema. Hint: you shouldn’t
Warning DO NOT GO!! I would give negative stars if possible. This place was the worst. I don’t mind paying for good food, service and quality. Low staff lines backed up they were out of food items plus charge $2.99 to deliver food 10 ft from kitchen, you pay high dollar for. The food most likely was frozen. Just a waste of time and horrible experience. For some reason nationwide they couldn’t accept gift cards. Funny how they can take your money but when it’s time to use it they have system issues. Joke of a place DO NOT GO!
It’s overload but the food is terrible. And so overpriced. When this place first opened, it was different and truly luxury. Menus and servers, now it’s just nice chairs and alcohol. The place needs a deep clean and better cleaning between movies. The food is bad. The fries are serviceable but the bacon ranch toppings were gross. Chicken fingers were overcooked and had a weird seasoning. The burger sliders were so tiny. Smaller than White Castle! The bar area is dead with no ambience. This place could really be a nice alternative but it feels like it’s barely hanging on ams really sad. Service is hit or miss. Bartender was very nice. Oh and for $2.99 you can have your food delivered to you!!! lol, what’s joke for the price and quality of food.
Its was my first time there and my friend girl recommended the place to see the Color Purple and it was nice. The seating , I love. However, there were some items on the menu that they didn't offer. I also left my scarf behind
Complete trash. Came to the movies and expected it to be nice snd the service was terrible. The girl with the black hair at the food stand looked at us and grabbed her drink and walked away. I had to address her when she walked all the way to the opposite line we were standing it. Mind you no one was here so we thought great no lines. I yell across to her and ask where do we order and she says here. Ask for popcorn and nachos and she’s like we have no cooks here so the only thing we can get is popcorn, candy and or soda drinks. Fine, we get popcorn and a couple of fountain drinks. We’re thinking at least we get fresh popcorn but no she grabs a large popcorn underneath the counter all ready made. Never will we return here.
We were going to see an R-rated movie, not realizing those under 17 needed to be with an adult 25+, and while we were in line a worker approached us and asked what movie we were seeing. He then told us because it’s R the two girls I had with me couldn’t see it because they needed an adult. This is entirely reasonable, given it’s their rule. I then asked if he was sure just because I wasn’t sure the age the person needed to be with them, and since I am an adult, though under 25, I wanted to be sure. Without even asking my age or checking and ID, he responds “I think I know my own rules” in a snarky tone, when I asked very politely just in reaction to being surprised to what he initially told us. He then followed us down as we were getting refunds, and when we were discussing trying to see another movie, the same worker approached us and told us that they’re welcome to see another movie, but if we tried to sneak them into the original movie we would be kicked out with no refund. I was astonished that we were suddenly being accused of trying to sneak into a theater, when we had been nothing but nice to this worker. I’m not sure if it’s because we were a younger group and this gentleman was much older, but I was very angry at this accusation, and we took the refunds and left. Overall I understand there was a rule, but we understood that and were not trying to bend rules or anything. I am angry at the accusations being thrown and the overall tone with which we were treated. Very disappointing. Edit: completely forgot to add, these teen girls came in behind us, under 17 it seems, my sister knew them, and the man, in the same condition tone, tells them they may as well walk down the stairs and out the door because they needed an adult. to see the same movie we wanted to see. Again, rules are totally fair but just the tone and almost bully behavior totally unexpected and uncalled for.
For our first time there it was awesome thanks to staff member Vivian and manager Olga plus everyone else on duty today 1/2/2024 @ 5pm. Very kindly and humble staff. I will be back with my family because of them, beside we loved and enjoyed the theater experience.
Pretty nice experience. New chairs are large and motorized recline makes the seats a bit better as my short legs were left dangling when i first sat down. Great picture, but I'm not sure why the lights were fully dimmed during the show.
Of all the theaters I've been to. This place is absolutely next level!!! Super clean, extremely friendly staff whom genuinely care about giving you the best experience possible, Outrageously good food, generous portions, ridiculously comfortable reclining seating, strictly top shelf bar absolutely no well liquors. Would HIGHLY RECOMMEND to anyone!!! Now all ages till 8 PM must be accompanied with someone 21+, after 8PM 21+ ONLY!!! Makes a great date night!!! Post update!! CMX had really been struggling for a while since the lockdown. The good news, new management and crew, very friendly and helpful attitudes!! Unfortunately Wheeling is no more, but both Skokie locations are open, and ready to alter your Luxury Theater going experience!!
Horrible food service. We ordered pretzel bites which we thought would be filled with at least more than 6 actual pretzel bites... assuming from the photo of the ACTUAL menu. What we got was ONLY SIX in the box. We paid 18 dollars for a non-luxurious experience. When we went to ask about this, giving them a benefit of doubt, the blonde old lady immediately turned us down and said that's how it's supposed to be. I will be escalating this to corporate because this was just not acceptable at all. I'm never one to complain but this was just horrible.
