Very good sushi dishes; fresh fish, great flavors, nice selection. Drinks were creative and good, food selection was nice and the dishes were full of meaty cuts never leaving you wanting for more. The crudos were top notch and the sushi rolls were a perfect blend of flavors without overpowering the star of the dish the fish. The restaurant is small, with very few tables, highly recommend a reservation! Would be happy to go back!
Chef Baaska and his team along with the staff at the restaurant put on an excellent experience that rivals some of the most famous sushi restaurants in the country. The fish itself is certainly the top tier of quality and freshness that you’ll find, they go above and beyond to import a beautiful selection. The menu is focused and has several options for a sushi eater. Reservations are recommended as space can be limited, and I’m sure it helps the restaurant to be planful. We should help them offer us this amazing sushi by being punctual and committed to our reservations when it comes to this level of quality and preparation. Go try Cobble and it’s safe to say you won’t regret it.
Baaska is the best! His attention to detail in flavors and presentation is outstanding. You really can’t go wrong with anything on the menu, but you absolutely HAVE to try the creamy salmon. After living in Okinawa for a few years, I’ve had a craving for seared salmon which isn’t all that common at sushi spots here in MN and real crab sushi. He offers both! Definitely found my new favorite sushi spot in the cities.
We enjoy this hidden gem for its speakeasy vibes. The customer service is fantastic, and the food is amazing. The drink menu, offering a variety of flavors, is something we really appreciate.Food: 5/5
Sushi Chef Baaska has redefined sushi in Minneapolis & reupholstered Cobble to a whole new level! Great service, sexy atmosphere, and hands down the BEST sushi in the twin cities. If you haven’t had the chance to come here yet, you’re truly missing out.
This is my favorite place for sushi and beverages! The sushi is the best sushi I have ever had!! I want to try every dish on the menu. The snow crab hand roll might be one of my favorite bites. Uni is out of this world. The mocktails are so delicious. The staff is friendly and so attentive.Food: 5/5
I love everything about cobble - it’s the perfect date night, special occasion or HH place for great cocktails and the best sushi in Minnesota. Chef Baaska has really crafted an elevated menu with high end and fresh ingredients not found in your run of the mill sushi. You’re paying for fish that has been flown in from all over the world, the best uni, caviar and authentic A5 wagyu. The preparation of the food is some of the best I’ve ever had. I’d highly recommend! The cocktails were also incredibly delicious and the staff was accommodating.
We tried this place, because one of the best MN sushi chefs work there. We had sushi bowl and seared salmon roll. They were fantastic. We had two cocktails with the food. So one roll, one bowl and two cocktails costed 120 usd w/o tip. I think that this place was overpriced considering the service and if I compare the positioning to other similar places. You might also consider to have reservation because the bar seats are very limited where the walk-in is accepted. We were in the small area next to the bar and service was very slow and cocktails were average.
Underwhelming... when I first entered, I was hit with a smell of old fish. I asked for a table, didn't have a reservation and was told they could accommodate my party until 6pm but then that didn't seem to be an issue... the space is small and broken up on 3 levels. If they have 40 seats, I'd be surprised. Service was good, friendly and helpful. Given the drink prices, the 3.62% non cash adjustment for credit card payments seems ridiculous. IMHO I'm not sure the space/atmosphere justify the drink prices.
Expressly reviewing my experiences with Baaska. First things first— don’t drop in if you’re in search of a caterpillar roll and a lager. If you’re dining with Baaska, you are treating yourself. Stated plainly; this is the best sushi or crudo program in Minnesota, and only challenged by one or two Chicago restaurants in quality in the Midwest. It is neither pristine Japanese sushi alone, nor is it a circus of sauces and novelties. Baaska understands his tools, and procures ingredients that would have never been found in the twin cities even two years ago. He does not obscure from skill and nuance with the smoke and mirrors of pure decadence. Rather, he deftly balances hyper-premium ingredients, flown in especially for his dark purposes, and absolutely dazzles with his resultant plates. I’ve been to many of the best sushi restaurants that the US has to offer, and Baaska’s work is in league with the very finest. This is S-tier craftsmanship. Go reward yourself with this experience. You deserve it.
