First, what Coffee place doesn't open till 9? By 9 I am done drinking coffee. Second, they resell generic beans not fresh or unique. Last, we pointed out a bag of 2 year expired chai next time we went in it was back on the shelf.

The Coffee Barrel is a long-standing favorite of mine dating back to my college days at MSU. For years, I continued to get my Coffee Barrel fix by mail-ordering their beans. Their current location is new to me. They have moved from their old location closer to campus, but the new location has a comfortable, small seating area with tables, chairs and even a couple of armchairs. They have a wide variety of beans available for purchase and I have always found their coffee to be excellent. They roast their own coffee and much of it is fair trade coffee. The entrance is handicap accessible and I believe the bathrooms are as well. Though the bathroom entrances may be a bit narrow to navigate with a wheelchair, I think they are still accessible. A small selection of food is available, although it is the typical cafe fare - pastries, cookies, etc. Ample free parking available in an adjacent parking lot. Although it is a little bit more of a hike from campus these days, it is still a favorite coffee stop for me when I'm in the Lansing/East Lansing area!
