Wonderful counseling at college of Alameda. I am currently working full time but attempting to take some online and late night classes. Since I am unavailable for regular counseling hours, I figured I could email a counselor and they might be able to help me out. My counselor Maha was extremely helpful and within a few days I was able to get prerequisites cleared and I will now be able to take classes. Such a relief and seriously fast response from the counseling at Alameda. A big thanks to Maha and College of Alameda for working with me!!

Fortunately or Unfortunately I have attended community college for while. It took me a few years to improve my English skills to be able to take GE classes. During this time, I learned a lot about how system of Financial Aid works and etc. I previously attended Long Beach City College. I move to Northern California and transferred to Alameda College. It is worst experience I ever had. First of all, counseling and admission&records departments lost my official transcript that try were supposed to send to a district office to evaluate my units from LBCC. Second, Financial Aid department does not know policies regarding the FAFAS process. They keep reassure me that it is impossible to review my income situation to reapply for financial aid. However, when I contacted Student Aid commission directly, they said that it is POSSIBLE and it is my legal right to request a review. Lastly, a supervisor of financial aid office is very rude, impolite, and very unhelpful. She try to show off, instead of being focusing more on students success and goals. She abused that English is my second language and kept giving me hard time by saying that I have to provide documents that I have Bachelor Degree, but in fact I don't have one. That is why I am in college. I am in process of contacting Department of Education to not let this happen to any other students. I think that this kind of unprofessional staff should be fired and management structure should be changed! Success of our country begins from the colleges. If there will be staff that take care of its students, there will be more educated professionals and as result better country! P.S. My comment does not related to professors. They do great job to keep this place attractive for students. My conservative is only about departments that I mentioned above.

The teachers here seem to be a mix of retired professors that coast through the lessons and passionate, creative, caring friends who do everything in their power to help you succeed. Screen them well and you'll get a great education.

The ADAM (Apparel Design and Merchandising) program is amazing. The program is very challenging and is great to find students over there with already more than one college degree or even master degree and just because some students are passionated about the apparel industry. Great teachers!
