My guy's car recently needed some repair work due to a minor accident in which his vehicle ran into a snow bank. There was damage to the right front tire and rim. We immediately contacted his insurance company and they provided him with a list of reputable & reliable collision and repair companies. We selected Collision Worx in Fort Washington. The insurance company expressed that Collison Worx was a "no hassle" business. Meaning that he wouldn't have to do anything---that they would deal directly with the insurance company, no work on our part etc., etc. The car was dropped off by a tow company on Thursday, Jan 21st. We didn't receive a phone call that the car had made it safely (We called ourselves). The next day my guy stopped by the shop to actually check on his car and to sign some paperwork. The business never called and asked him to come and do this. Once the damages were accessed that day, it was known that a new tire and rim would need ordering. We picked up a rental from Enterprise on the very same day, Friday, Jan 22nd. The insurance company was only paying up to $500 for the rental, but we were sure that the car would not take that long to fix....or so we thought. The following week he called the shop almost every day asking the status of his vehicle. On Tuesday, Jan 26th it was noted that the repair shop was ordering a new rim. However the rim didn't arrive at the shop until Friday Feb 5th, which is ridiculous. The rim was arriving FedEx and almost 10 days is ludicrous! During this timeframe the repair company wanted to place a new tire on the car, but advised that the old tire was still useable. He asked if he could purchase a full set of tires himself and have the insurance company reimburse him for the one tire that was damaged. The mechanic said that wouldn't be a problem and he'd made sure to annotate it on the itemized receipt. After calling the shop on Thursday February 4th to get a status on the car, my guy was told they were on lunch and someone would call back. This never happened. He then proceeded to go to the shop and check himself because the rental car limit was close to being reached. Collision Worx also guaranteed/promised to have the car fixed and completed by Friday, Feb 5th. Friday came and went and the shop did not even contact him to let him know anything. He stopped by the shop again on Mon, Feb 8th and was told that the car will be ready later that day. So here we are 19 days later. We are now waaay past the $500 max on the rental car due to this repair company taking forever to fix the vehicle. When he went to pick up his car the actual receipt was erroneous and counterfactual. Nowhere on the receipt did it mention the insurance company reimbursing him for the tire that he paid for and on top of the that the repair company also tried to charge him something called a betterment fee which are for tires that insurance companies would normally pay for. But considering that he paid for his own tires out-of-pocket this fee should have never been included on the receipt. It took him nearly an hour to correct his receipt. Considering the lack of customer service, lengthy repair timeframe and suspicious and incredulous upcharges on the receipt we will never conduct business here again. A grievance is also being filed with the insurance company as well. Zero Negative Stars.
