Colony Cafe

About

Yes, a cat cafe and wine bar here in the Burgh! Our motto? Everything is better with cats... Come spend some time with us.

Story

Wine? Coffee? Food? Cats? You have come to the right place...

The mission of Colony Cafe is to offer a unique, fun, relaxing cafe for humans, while finding loving homes for Pittsburgh's at-risk cats.

What is important to know is that you can experience these things together or completely separate... The Cat Loft is upstairs behind glass and the coffeehouse/wine bar is downstairs and operates as a stand-alone cafe, offering snacks, lunch, bistro fare and a fine wine and specialty cocktail selection.

WE OFFER:

-Third Wave Coffee and espresso drinks available to-go or stay in a destination coffee shop atmosphere separate from the cats.

-Delicious Wine from an owner-curated selection, to enjoy along with savory snacks in a relaxed, neighborhood wine bar environment. We also sell bottles to-go.

-Cat Visits where you can spend time playing with about a dozen adoptable cats in a separate area of the cafe. You’re welcome to have coffee, wine and food while you lounge with the kitties if you like.

This was a gem to find, and one of our favorite memories so far from vacation. The cats are incredible, drinks are splendid, and the music was lovely. You can't find a better place in all of Pittsburgh to sit back, relax, and simply enjoy. To go to the upstairs cat loft, you'll need to make a reservation only. It's quick and easy to do, and you can usually do same day appointments. We booked ours today, and stopped by an hour later for everything. It's $8/per person, and the food and drinks are all reasonably priced. You can even take them upstairs with the cats! Stop by and try it out, you won't regret it!

Cool vibe and the cat loft is a lot of fun. They usually have 10-13 cats all available for adoption up in the loft. You have to make a reservation online for an hour time slot with the cats, but it's easy to do. The food is pretty high class, if not a little pricey. The atmosphere in the cafe portion of the restaurant is laid back. The people who run the store are great and we will definitely be back for another cat visit.

The idea of this is just genius. It helps people ans cats alike! Each cat has its own personality and getting to know each one was so great. Being a vet tech and having 4 cats myself, it was easy for me to understand their quirks, but seeing how other people interract with them made me smile. I had black tea and my husband had a cold brew. Both drinks were very good. The baked goods looked delicious!

Friendly staff, lovely space, and CATS! I just adopted one of their residents and I can say that from my first time walking in just to visit, to leaving with my kitty, the experience was superb. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a fun thing to do, or looking to adopt a cat.

The atmosphere of the cafe is lovely. Tasty banana bread, fun cocktails, 90's alternative jams on the radio. The cat lounge is comfy, with lots of nooks for cats to hide in and plenty of seats for humans. There are some toys that the cats love, and a staff member gives everyone some treats to tempt the cats with. The cats will let you pet them! (If you've been to a cat Cafe in Japan... They totally don't.) The cats have all ranges of personalities though; some are playful, some are chill, some are grumpy, some are shy. (I'm sure the faces change as adoptions happen.)
