One of the South Carolina Department of Mental Health's 17 community mental health centers, the Columbia Area Mental Health Center provides effective mental health services to the citizens of Richland and Fairfield Counties at multiple locations.

The front desk woman at this office was EXTREMELY rude, unprofessional, and UNHELPFUL. She repeatedly slung the glass door separating the office and the waiting area open, snatched a clip board out of my hand, and did not give us any information in regards to when we would see a counselor. Overall the front desk staff was loud, rowdy, and incredibly clueless as to professional workplace protocol and customer service. This is particularly sad since the office itself is working on aiding the public in a sensitive subject matter. Very disappointed in the service I received.

initial experience was positive; though in subsequent experiences with an "adult protective services" Critical resident in ultimately urgent but  impending crisis situation ending obviously BADLY resultant of loudly crying etiology in openly self describing pathological behaviors adult citizen  seeking help 2x.  08-10-2016. Neighbor / Resident was  Ill received, ignored or not Dx/misdiagnosed but in dire need of CRISIS INTERVENTION. I'm saying that any imbecile could discern the guy needed CRISIS INTERVENTION, or at least assist him gain SSA disability or remove the SSA/SSI experts panel from closed circuit TV. 
We should have called 911, State Troopers have  a honestly greater professional ethic then too many psychiatric professionals and allied support health career professionals (social work, no special vocabulary required)  
The patient subsequently became one of cities avoidable homeless men if he'd been a woman it'd be a far different ending, was hit by a car,  only becoming dehabilitates; though having had the 
window to successfully apply for SSA disability (not SSI) window close on the case

After only 2 visits and a total time of approx 30 min trying to get help for my daughter, they referred her to go to another place.  What a waste of time.  Offered her no help however the lady did make a point to tell my daughter she was hard headed.  Thanks for helping build her self confidence, you stupid idiot!
