Story

Columbia City Bakery opened in 2005 under the inspiration and direction of Evan Andres.
The unique flavors and texture of our breads come from the use of natural starters, minimal commercial yeast, and a long, slow fermentation process. The dough is mixed in small batches and overseen by skilled bakers who love what they do.
Our bread is now served in some of Seattle's finest restaurants and we are proud that the bakery has become a busy, local gathering spot.

FOOD: Relatively large portions for the price. I generally feel like I’m getting a good value. During an elimination diet, I was pleased they offer nut free, dairy free, gluten free options. great for quick breakfast/ coffee or birthday cakes.
SERVICE: it’s rare I’m served by the same person at the counter twice. While there are exceptions, I can’t say it’s a welcoming environment. I haven’t ever encountered anyone rude, I’m just generally prepared to be met with apathy.
ATMOSPHERE: stiflingly hot in the summer. I’ve tried to come in on a warm day but always immediately leave due to the oppressive heat.

Friendly staff, awesome baked goods, great coffee, all wrapped up in a cozy cafe in the heart of Columbia City.

"London smog" is perfect winter beverage. Love the vegan ginger cookies.

Excellent baked goods! A little expensive but the fruit danishes are world class.  Sometimes you get a little attitude from the counter people and often there is an entitled Yuppie/Hipster/Arrogant F#$k who will act accordingly but if that happens, get the danish to go.
