Love this place and always will. The movie section is a bit sparse. Miss the old microfiche machines. The new machines don't work as well as the old ones. A big thanks to all the donors for making this location great.

The librarians were friendly but, oddly enough, on three different occasions, after looking up a book, they told me they they didn't carry it and moments later I found it myself. They also weren't very knowledgeable about the books. I asked for a calligraphy book and the lady directed me to books about type font. When I tried to explain the difference, she gave me a strange look, as if I were bothering her. I was looking for many, (pretty much any) instructional art books but they surprisingly had little to offer for a main branch of a library. In my old neighborhood, the library was easly 1/10th the size with 10× as many books. Weird. In fairness: this library was just reopened about seven months ago.

I've been going to the Main Library since I was a kid in elementary school, but I didn't get to see the new renovations until this past weekend... It's gorgeous!!! They kept everything good about the old library; the playfulness of the Children's area, the famous mural, the feeling of being in a proper library... And they made it better! There's so much useable space, there are study rooms, there is technology everywhere! The huge windows that look out into the Topiary Garden add a gorgeous scenic vista, and there is a wonderful cafe addition on the first floor. Also, tiny thing that really makes the difference to me is the addition of the water-bottle filler stations at the drinking fountains. HUGE plus!

The library is beautiful but the security guards are mean. Nice job making a college kid cry the morning of her midterms
