A good community of emerging artists work here, and the gallery in general does a decent job at promoting itself and the artists it represents. That said, studio space is poorly heated and provides no proper storage for mineral spirits, linseed oils, and other toxic/combustible solvents. I had to keep y linseed oil in a plastic bin with my still life objects and canvases, which did not feel safe to me. Studio space is not ideal, but not bad for 300 in Manhattan. Lots of great people come through, but the space itself is okay.

Artist's are super nice! I know to rent the space it will cost $1,900 and you will have to rent out extra chairs. You can fill up to 100 people. You can move the white box to the front of the store. They do have wood tables that can move up to the wall that was cool.

Awesome gallery that does private and public viewings. There's a new theme to the artwork every week so you'll never see the same thing twice. Art workshops and rentals are also offered.

After recently moving to NY I was looking to join some artist based communities and came across Con Artist Collective. At first it seemed like a great choice, a co-working type artist run studio and gallery space focused on helping artists develop as creatives with gallery exhibitions, lectures and workshops. I signed up for a package that included the use of the work space on weekdays and started coming in regularly for about two months. My first issues were about the space. The seating they provide for the workspace is so uncomfortable that after half an hour my back would hurt and bottom would fall asleep. Loud music was always being blasted, so loud even headphones didn't really help and it was the same playlist every day. They advertise a "meeting room" but it is really just a small wood crate in the middle of the workspace, not great if you want to show a body of work to a potential collector, etc. I also almost never saw any other artists in the space, except for the people that work there which were quiet and standoffish at best. Kind of defeats one of the main reasons I joined, to meet other artists. I did attend some of the gallery openings and again found that people were in general very clique-ish or would actually just ignore me if I tried to start a conversation. Con Artist Collective is worth the basic $5 a month to apply for gallery exhibitions if you are looking to beef up your CV, but I wouldn't recommend the co-working space and you probably will have to find your "community" elsewhere.
