Story

Food makes Friends.

These words have influenced our family for generations. From the first time Hank made BBQ for his young boys all the way to opening his own business, cooking has always been his passion and a value. Sharing his food with others has made countless friends over the years (it hasn’t hurt that it’s unquestionably delicious!), and we hope you will become one too.

Our BBQ is takeout or picnic style with all open air seating. Every day at Copper Top feels like a cookout block party, so don’t be shy and bring company to enjoy our artisan craft BBQ with you! The backdrop of the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains, picnic tables, and the delicious smell of fresh barbeque in the air await you along with a plate of our Certified Angus Beef Tri-tip Sandwich, Signature Baby Back Ribs, and BBQ Chicken! If you’re on the go, our BBQ is vacuum pack sealed to ensure absolute freshness and flavor.

I stopped by here on the way home on labor day. The food was good, but I'm not sure it was worth the wait. I had to wait in line at least 30 minutes in the 95F+ heat before getting to the counter. Maybe they should add another register/window for busy days? Another suggestion would be to have paper towels /silverware available in the air conditioned seating area, and make the soda machine accessible to patrons. Would definitely help streamline things. People were always cutting across the line to get more napkins and asking for refills at the window.

For California BBQ Copper Top is delicious. Disclaimer I grew up in Texas and smoke meat pretty regular so I'm a little biased. Their potato salad is bomb and I live that their BBQ sauce isn't overwhelmly sweet. Staff is super friendly as well. If they had Brisket theybwoukd have gotten 5 stars. Gotta have brisket man.

Really Good. Fair portions. Friendly staff. Wonderful place to stop and eat or get as takeout if you're passing through. If you're a local, lucky you! It's a great BBQ place!

things I didn't like about coming here: 1) I live abroad and can only come by every two years, 2) my stomach is only big enough to handle the pulled pork sandwich. I've tried many of these and that was the best I've ever had. Lots of small touches (like the apple and mustard seed in the coleslaw, the pretzel bun, even the signage) that show you these guys really care about what they do. Highly recommended.

I was too busy eating fall of the bone grilled and barbecue meats to take a picture. Our family devoured the sample platter - a taste of all meats on he menu. We also loved to potato salad and the incredible bean and okra accompaniments. They also serve beer - good call - really good call. Verdict? On par with Smoking Guns BBQ in Kansas City - best in class.
