CORE Furniture-serving families in need in the Greater Akron area.
Transforming a House into a Home
Furniture transforms an apartment or a house into an environment that a family can call a “home”. The home is the hub of activity for a family. It is their retreat.
CORE's mission is to seek donations of used furniture, and re-donate it to Families-in-Need, in Summit County, whose furniture requirements have been first approved through a Home Visit performed by a Social Services Agency or a CORE Home Visit Team member.
Led and Operated By Volunteers
In operation since 1998 and using volunteers that contribute more than 22,000 hours of effort every year, CORE Furniture Bank serves families-in-need by seeking furniture donations of more than 5,500 major furniture items from more than 1,000 donors per year, transporting these furniture items to CORE’s warehouse, and then hosting approximately 1,000 families-in-need annually to fulfill their furniture needs. These major furniture items include mattresses, beds, dressers, sofas, upholstered chairs, end tables/coffee tables, lamps, TVs and dinette sets.
CORE is a broad based, non-profit, collaborative community initiative that assists families-in-need by seeking donations of used furniture and household items; and then re-donating them to these families while serving them in a warm, welcoming and dignified manner
